Frequently asked questions

What is a stretch mark?

Stretch marks, known by the scientific term Striae distensae, appear as parallel, irregular striated marks on the skin, varying in length and a few millimetres in width, resembling small welts.

Initially reddish-purple and inflammatory, they gradually take on a pearly colour slightly lighter than the skin.

Where do stretch marks appear?

They appear on areas of the body that are prone to stretching (stomach, breasts, thighs, buttocks, hips, upper arms, etc.), when the skin is subjected to significant and rapid stretching. The elastic fibres in the dermis break down and the skin "cracks". The skin is particularly susceptible to the appearance of stretch marks during pregnancy, or during periods of growth, particularly in adolescence. Stretch marks can also appear in the event of rapid weight gain, or as a result of certain sports involving a rapid increase in muscle mass (bodybuilding, etc.).

How can they be prevented?

Preventing stretch marks depends on a number of factors:

Maintaining good hydration:

Well-hydrated skin is more supple and elastic, which reduces the risk of stretch marks forming. Drink enough water, use protective skincare products to keep the skin hydrated and take food supplements, such as hyaluronic acid, to boost skin hydration from the inside out.

Nourish the skin and reinforce its elasticity:

Using skin care oils such as our stretch mark oil with 10 premium oils provides intensive nourishment, improves suppleness and elasticity and preserves and maintains the skin's moisture level.

Adopt a balanced diet:

A diet rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants promotes healthy skin. Foods rich in vitamins A, C, D, E, zinc and collagen can support skin health.

When should I start using anti-stretch mark oil during pregnancy?

We recommend applying the oil twice a day from the start of pregnancy until the birth of the child to the areas prone to stretch marks (stomach, breasts, hips, thighs, buttocks, etc.), then continuing to apply it every day after the birth. This oil is compatible with breastfeeding.

When should I use stretch mark oil during pregnancy?

For optimum effectiveness, we recommend applying stretch mark oil twice a day. Once in the morning and once in the evening, using a circular massage on the areas prone to stretch marks (stomach, breasts, hips, thighs, buttocks, etc.).

Is this oil suitable for pregnant and breastfeeding women?

This neutral oil is suitable for pregnant and breastfeeding women. During pregnancy and when breastfeeding, we recommend that you do not customise this neutral oil and that you use it undiluted. As a general rule, essential oils are not suitable for use during pregnancy or when breastfeeding, and some essential oils are strictly forbidden.

Is this oil photosensitising?

This oil is not photosensitising.
