Hyaluronic acid is a polysaccharide belonging to the glycosaminoglycan (or GAG) family, meaning it is a long molecule of repeating disaccharide units made up of D-glucuronic acid and D-N-acetylglucosamine. Depending on the number of disaccharide units, the molecular weight of hyaluronic acid naturally varies between 100 and 10,000 kDa.
