Widely cultivated in India, the Withania somnifera plant is part of the Solanaceae family. An essential part of Ayurvedic pharmacopoeia, ashwagandha is to Ayurveda what ginseng is to traditional Chinese medicine. This adaptogen is recommended for physical weakness, low libido and burnout. These properties have led to it being called "Indian ginseng" in Europe. Renowned as a tonic and revitaliser, its name means "horse smell", as it is supposed to give people "a horse's energy and sexual vitality".

Frequently asked questions

When should I take organic ashwagandha as a food supplement?

The recommended dose is 1 to 2 capsules of 500 mg ashwagandha extract KSM-66® per day, preferably taken just before or after a meal for proper absorption. We recommend taking it in the morning or at midday to get the maximum tonic and strengthening properties from ashwagandha during the day, or to help manage daily stress and anxiety. To support muscle growth, improve sleep quality and enhance libido, we recommend taking it in the evening. You can also choose to take one capsule in the morning and one in the evening. Regularity is important if food supplements are to be effective, so we recommend setting a routine where you take your capsules at the same time every day.

How long should a course of ashwagandha last?

Depending on whether you take 1 or 2 capsules a day, one jar of Aroma-Zone Organic Ashwagandha food supplement will last 30 to 60 days, i.e. a 1-to-2-month course. With this adaptogenic plant, it is worth taking long-term courses of treatment to really benefit from its properties.
