Comprehensive In & Out Anti-Blackhead Routine: 4 Steps
Why we love it
Cleanses and purifies without drying out the skin
Helps to regulate shine and excess sebum
Visibly refines skin texture and tightens pores
A comprehensive 4-step routine recommended by our experts and dermatologists for caring for skin prone to blackheads.
Skin types
For skin prone to shine and blemishes (enlarged pores, comedones, blackheads). For combination to oily skin prone to blemishes.
Step 1 - Prebiotic, Zinc & Cucumber Gentle Cleansing Gel: morning and evening, apply to damp skin on the face and neck using circular massage movements, then rinse with lukewarm water.
Step 2 - 2% Salicylic Acid & Zinc Serum: in the evening only, on clean skin, apply a few drops to the face and neck, massaging gently to help the product absorb. This product is not suitable for sensitive skin and is not recommended during pregnancy or whilst breastfeeding. Avoid the eye area. Due to its very high concentration of salicylic acid, this serum must not be used in combination with other products containing salicylic acid (Salix Nigra Bark Extract) or glycolic acid. Use daily sun protection and avoid sun exposure for up to one week after the last application. If irritation occurs, discontinue use.
Step 3 – Manuka & Postbiotics Purifying and Balancing Oil Serum: In the morning on its own and in the evening after your serum, apply the Oil Serum to the face and neck.
Step 4 – Clear Skin Complex: Take 2 capsules a day with a glass of water, as part of a programme lasting at least 2 months.

IMPACT OF DIET
SUGAR: A diet rich in high-glycaemic-index carbohydrates or with a high glycaemic load (which in practice includes ‘sugary’, refined or highly processed foods) is associated with an increase in the frequency and severity of acne. The proposed mechanism is that these foods cause rapid spikes in insulin and insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1), stimulating sebum production, inflammation, the proliferation of sebaceous gland cells and the formation of acne lesions.

Frequently Asked Questions
Pore size is largely determined by genetic and hormonal factors. Pores cannot be closed, but their appearance can be visibly improved. When a pore is blocked by sebum and dead skin cells, it appears larger. By regulating excess sebum and regularly exfoliating the skin, its appearance can seem smoother and more even.
In addition to a suitable cleanser, applying a regulating toner can help to thoroughly remove any remaining impurities and visually improve the skin’s texture. The Niacinamide 5%, Zinc & Hyaluronic Acid Toning Lotion regulates excess sebum, soothes redness and refines the appearance of pores, without drying out the skin.
Not all oils are comedogenic. Some fine plant-based oils can even help maintain the skin’s natural balance. Jojoba, for example, has a structure similar to human sebum and helps to regulate excess sebum. Hazelnut oil, which is light, regulates excess sebum and is popular for combination to oily skin. Black Cumin Oil is traditionally used for blemish-prone skin due to its purifying and balancing properties.
A well-chosen oil does not ‘clog’ the pores; on the contrary, it can help maintain the skin’s suppleness and limit the overproduction of sebum caused by excessive dehydration. The key is to avoid oils that are too occlusive or unsuitable for your skin type. For example, coconut oil is not suitable for blemish-prone skin.
Occlusive make-up or make-up that has not been properly removed can contribute to blocked pores, particularly in areas where sebum production is higher. It is recommended to opt for non-comedogenic formulas, such as the Translucent Mattifying Powder.
Every evening, a double-cleansing routine is particularly suitable: start with a make-up remover oil or balm to dissolve make-up, followed by the Prebiotic, Zinc & Cucumber Cleansing Gel to remove excess sebum and impurities that can clog the pores.
The sun may give the impression of temporarily improving the skin’s condition, as it slightly dries out visible blemishes. However, sun exposure stimulates the thickening of the stratum corneum. By the end of summer, this excess of dead skin cells can clog pores and promote the appearance of blackheads and blemishes.
Furthermore, UV rays can stimulate sebum production and weaken the skin barrier. Sun exposure can also exacerbate post-spot discolouration, particularly in darker skin types.
To minimise this effect, it is recommended to apply a suitable sunscreen daily as soon as the UV index exceeds 3, using a non-comedogenic formula such as the Mineral Sun Milk SPF 30. Reapply regularly and avoid exposure during the hottest part of the day.
Recommendation: Avoid direct exposure to the sun during the hottest part of the day in summer, between 12 noon and 4 pm. Reapply your sun protection every two hours and after swimming
In the evening, thorough make-up removal is essential to remove sun filters, excess sebum and impurities that have built up during the day. A make-up remover oil such as the Plum & Oat Cleansing Oil, can be particularly effective at dissolving sun protection products before cleansing.
Yes. A blackhead is a pore blocked by excess sebum and dead skin cells. When this sebum becomes trapped in the pore, it can encourage the growth of bacteria naturally present on the skin’s surface. The blackhead can then develop into a red, sensitive or deeper spot. Picking at or squeezing a blackhead increases this risk by weakening the skin’s barrier and promoting inflammation.
In the case of a localised blemish, the Anti-Blemish Essential Oil Roll-on can be applied directly to the affected area to help clear it up.
