Skin of multiple ethnicities and black skin: effective face routines in winter
Black skin or skin from multiple ethnicities is often sensitive to the change of season. Being drier by nature, the arrival of cold weather and drops in temperature have a direct impact and require a special routine to protect the skin from all external damage.
Black skin or skin from multiple ethnicities have a much higher concentration of melanin than fair skins, so a poor routine can lead to significant dehydration, a dull complexion, uneven tone and pigmentation spots.

Removing make-up and cleansing your skin every day
It's important to distinguish between removing make-up and cleansing. This is an important step, as it must be done gently to avoid damaging the skin.
It is recommended that if you have black skin or skin from multiple ethnicities, you should cleanse twice in the evening (make-up removal + cleansing) to ensure clean skin and good skincare penetration.
Removing make-up - black skin or skin from multiple ethnicities
As the name suggests, it removes all make-up from the skin. It should be done every evening. You can remove make-up naturally with:
A carrier oil: very popular with mixed-ethnicity and black skin types, this is ideal for removing make-up from dry skin, as it leaves a protective film that is very beneficial during cleansing. Very easy to use, simply apply a few dabs to the face and massage gently. Some examples of oils to include in your routine:
- Avocado oil oralmond oil: Ideal if your skin is very dry
- Jojoba oil Ideal if you have combination skin to regulate sebum production.
A solid make-up remover such as organic jojoba and calendula solid make-up remover which is very gentle thanks to its composition rich in carrier oils.
A make-up remover lotion for very gentle make-up removal which is great for sensitive skin.
For gentler make-up removal tailored to your skin, choose our Organic Cucumber Micellar Water with Hyaluronic Acid.
Cleansing
It will thoroughly cleanse the pores and remove any remaining impurities. It should be done morning and evening. For dry skin, it is preferable to use a cleansing cream to gently cleanse while protecting the epidermis.
After each cleansing, we strongly recommend using a hydrosole with a cotton pad to remove any limescale residue that could further dry out the skin. We recommend the following hydrosols for this purpose:

Rose hydrosol
Astringent, toning and soothing. It is ideal for sensitive skin.

Calendula hydrosol
Soothing, softening and repairing.

French lime tree hydrosol
Soothing and brightening.

Use a scrub and mask regularly
During the winter, mixed-ethnicity and black skin tends to be much duller. To combat this problem, it's important to exfoliate your skin in order to remove all the dead cells on the skin's surface, restore radiance to your complexion and give you a more even complexion. Once the skin is exfoliated and free of impurities, all the active ingredients in the mask penetrate deeper into the epidermis. Ideally, you should apply masks every week and exfoliate every 2 weeks.

Apricot kernel powder
Highly effective for effectively eliminating dead cells and restoring the skin's tone and radiance.

Organic bamboo beads

In addition to these ingredients, you can also use the 10% Glycolic Acid AHA Concentrated Facial Serum , which has a peeling effect that eliminates dead skin cells and stimulates skin renewal, leaving skin radiant and even-toned. We recommend applying it once or twice a week, only in the evening , and using sun protection , avoiding exposure to the sun for up to a week after the last application.

Treat and moisturise your skin daily with serums
Moisturising is the most important part of any winter routine, because dry skin is often associated with discomfort, particularly tightness. With the cold temperatures, mixed-ethnicity and black skin tends to peel much more easily, sometimes with a "grey" appearance. Moisturising should be done morning and night. The ideal combination is a serum followed by a moisturising cream, for supple, plump skin.
