Uses for hair
As an ingredient in your blends for spraying on the scalp and/or spraying on the hair.
Use with active ingredients and other natural (water-soluble) ingredients to make scalp lotions or hair sprays. This type of lotion can be stored in the refrigerator, like pure hydrosol. To keep at room temperature, you need to add a preservative, such as Cosgard (transfer the hydrosol to a bowl to add the preservative).
You can also add essential oils to your mixture if you wish, but you will need to add a dispersant (Solubol or Disper) as essential oils are not soluble in the aqueous phase. As above, you'll need to add a preservative to keep the lotion at room temperature.
Can be incorporated into the aqueous phase of your homemade cosmetic formulas. Nettle hydrosol is ideal for making:
A shine-enhancing shampoo
An anti-hair loss lotion

To make 1 litre of hydrosol, you need 1 kilo of fresh leaves, known as the 1:1 ratio. This minimum extraction ratio, which is something we strictly follow at Aroma-Zone, guarantees an intense fragrance, better conservation and, above all, a high concentration of aromatic molecules in the hydrosol, a proof of its quality.

Often overlooked due to its stinging hairs, Nettle is actually a phytotherapy gem. This perennial botanical from the Urticaceae family is commonly found at the edges of paths and fields and can be recognised by its serrated leaves covered in stinging hairs.
These hairs have silica tips, tapered to penetrate the skin more easily and as brittle as glass. At the slightest contact, they release their contents, histamine, formic acid, acetylcholine and serotonin, which can cause redness, burning and itching of the skin.
High in protein, vitamins and minerals, and particularly renowned for its silica content, Nettle has been used since ancient times for its many virtues, both medicinally and in food, as well as in beauty treatments, especially to strengthen hair and stimulate growth. Considered a panacea in the Middle Ages, it remains one of the leading plants in phytotherapy in Europe and is also found in Amerindian medicine and in the Ayurvedic pharmacopoeia of India.
Rich in silica and zinc, Nettle is remineralising and has traditionally been recommended for relieving rheumatism and osteoarthritis. Thanks to its iron and vitamin C content, it is also known as a general tonic and is used to combat anaemia. Herbalists also use it for its diuretic, astringent, antihaemorrhagic and antiallergic effects, and as a depurative to stimulate digestive and biliary functions.
Its vitamin B2, vitamin B5, folic acid, silica and zinc content make it an ideal asset for promoting the beauty of skin, hair and nails. Nettle is also reputed to combat acne, brittle nails, hair loss and dandruff, and to regulate oily skin and hair.
Obtained by distilling fresh Nettles in water, Nettle Hydrosol is ideal as a lotion for oily, acne-prone skin or as an ingredient in shampoos and hair masks to tone your hair.
This extraordinary plant, a friend to gardeners, herbalists and gourmands, will also be your new beauty ally!
