Roman chamomile is native to Western Europe and North Africa. Very similar to German chamomile, you can tell it apart by the presence of fine "hairs" covering its leaves, which gives them a whitish appearance.
Its name comes from the Greek "Khamaimêlon" , meaning " apple of the ground ", because of the apple-like smell that emanates from the ground when you walk on it. In ancient Egypt, Roman chamomile symbolised the sun and was dedicated to the god Ra. The Egyptians also used it to embalm their dead.
In the language of flowers, chamomile means " patience in adversity". In fact, thanks to its welcoming, sweet scent, Roman chamomile has the virtue of calming agitated spirits to the core, while rebalancing them.
With its well-known digestive and calming properties, Roman chamomile hydrosol is traditionally used in baby care , particularly in cases of colic or painful teething. For skin, chamomile hydrosol has a soothing effect on redness and irritation. Once again, it's the ideal active ingredient for looking after toddlers' skin.

Tea tree essential oil: 2 drops
Propolis extract: 2 drops
Directions: Mix the ingredients together vigorously until a homogeneous paste is obtained.

Roman chamomile hydrosol
Use: As eye compresses 3 times a day.
20 ml wheat germ carrier oil
4 g beeswax
10 ml Roman chamomile hydrosol
5 drops geranium essential oil
3 drops grapefruit seed extract
Directions: Melt the wax in the carrier oil in a bain-marie. When the wax has melted, remove from the heat and add the hydrosol in a small quantity while emulsifying. Then add the essential oil and preservative. To ensure the blend sets properly, leave to cool for 30 minutes in the fridge.
Sweet almond carrier oil: 50 ml
Castor oil: 5 ml
Cornflower hydrosol: 10 ml
Chamomile hydrosol: 10 ml
Directions: Mix all the products in a bottle and shake vigorously before each use to mix the oils and hydrosols. Gently dab onto the eyelid to dissolve make-up, then wipe up and down very gently to avoid damaging the lashes.
16 g Rice bran wax
210 ml carrot macerated oil
130 ml Roman chamomile hydrosol
1 tablespoon plant-derived glycerine
15 drops lemon eucalyptus essential oil
15 drops rose geranium essential oil
50 drops grapefruit seed extract
17 drops natural vitamin E
Directions: Melt the wax in the macerated oil in a bain-marie. When the wax has melted, remove from the heat and wait for the blend to cool slightly. Add the hydrosol in small quantities while emulsifying. Add the remaining ingredients, still stirring. Mix well then pour the mixture into the bottle and store in the fridge.
Aroma-Zone important notes: It is not easy to make a stable emulsion (cream, lotion) using only a wax. Waxes have a low emulsifying power, so we advise you to add an emulsifier. We also recommend that you add a preservative to keep this mixture for longer.
