An oil serum is a concentrated skincare product with an oily texture, formulated using plant-based oils and fat-soluble active ingredients, unlike traditional serums, which are predominantly water-based. It offers better affinity with the skin barrier and optimal diffusion of the active ingredients, whilst nourishing the skin and providing comfort.

To tackle these issues effectively, Aroma-Zone has developed the Vitamin C & Glabridine Anti-Dark Spot Oil Serum, a concentrated treatment designed to correct existing dark spots and prevent new ones from appearing. What is the Vitamin C & Glabridine Anti-Dark Spot Oil Serum?

The Vitamin C & Glabridine Anti-Dark Spot Oil Serum is a concentrated facial treatment specifically formulated to correct existing pigmentation spots , prevent their appearance and restore an even complexion. Its 100 per cent natural formula is based on a synergy of active ingredients dermatologically recognised for their effectiveness against hyperpigmentation and skin ageing. At the heart of this formulation is the fat-soluble vitamin C (Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate), which is distinguished by its high stability and its ability to penetrate the skin effectively: it acts both as an antioxidant, enhancing the complexion’s radiance, and as a corrective active ingredient by helping to reduce excessive pigmentation. It is combined with glabridin, an active ingredient extracted from liquorice root, recognised for its targeted action on the enzyme tyrosinase – which plays a key role in melanin synthesis – thereby helping to limit the formation of dark spots whilst being gentle on sensitive skin. The oil serum is also enriched with astaxanthin, a natural antioxidant capable of protecting skin cells against damage caused by oxidative stress, pollution and UV rays – the main factors behind premature ageing. Its base of carefully selected plant oils provides nourishment and comfort, whilst strengthening the skin barrier, without leaving a greasy residue or causing blackheads. Its fine, silky oil texture ensures excellent affinity with the skin and optimal diffusion of the active ingredients, for a treatment that is both effective and perfectly suited to dull, mature or pigment-spotted skin.
Why use this serum?
The Vitamin C & Glabridine Anti-Dark Spot Oil Serum targets hyperpigmentation and dark spots, which appear when melanin production is stimulated by factors such as UV exposure, ageing, skin scars (caused by acne, for example) or hormonal changes.
The Oleosérum acts on several key stages of the pigmentation process: it inhibits the activity of tyrosinase, the enzyme essential for melanin production, and limits the proliferation of melanocytes, the cells that carry melanin pigments. It also offers antioxidant and anti-ageing protection. The three main antioxidant active ingredients it contains – vitamin C, glabridin and astaxanthin – help to neutralise the free radicals, which are major sources of oxidative stress. This action helps to preserve the skin’s elasticity, reduce the appearance of signs of skin ageing and protect against daily environmental stressors.
What are its benefits for the skin?
The Vitamin C & Glabridine Anti-Dark Spot Oil Serum offers numerous benefits, targeted and complementary
Reduces and helps prevent pigmentation spots: Pigmentation spots are linked to an overproduction of melanin by melanocytes, driven by the enzyme tyrosinase, which is stimulated in particular by UV rays and skin ageing. Glabridin, derived from liquorice root, works by inhibiting this key enzyme, thereby limiting the formation of new dark spots without damaging skin cells. Fat-soluble vitamin C complements this action by reducing the oxidation of existing melanin, making dark spots appear less pronounced and contributing to a more even complexion
Radiance and an even complexion: Vitamin C and the other antioxidants in the formula support cellular activity and improve the quality of the epidermis. The skin then reflects light better, resulting in a more luminous, fresher and visibly more even complexion
Protection against oxidative stress: Oxidative stress, caused by free radicals resulting from UV exposure, pollution and environmental aggressors, accelerates skin ageing and promotes the appearance of dark spots. Astaxanthin, a powerful natural antioxidant, protects cell membranes from lipid oxidation, whilst vitamin C reinforces this overall defence, thereby helping to preserve the skin’s youthfulness and radiance
Comfortable texture and adaptability: The Oléosérum’s base of light plant oils has a high affinity with the skin’s hydrolipidic film, facilitating the penetration and diffusion of fat-soluble active ingredients. This lightweight texture nourishes and strengthens the skin barrier without leaving a greasy residue, making the product suitable for all skin types, particularly dull and mature skin in need of comfort
Suitable for which skin types?
The Vitamin C & Glabridine Anti-Dark Spot Oil Serum is suitable for all skin types, but is particularly beneficial for dull, tired and mature skin, which often lacks radiance, has an uneven texture and shows signs of pigmentation spots linked to ageing and sun exposure.
With age, cell renewal slows down and the skin’s natural defences against oxidative stress become less effective, leading to a dull complexion and hyperpigmentation. Thanks to its fat-soluble vitamin C, this serum helps to restore radiance and even out the complexion, whilst glabridin acts directly on the mechanisms of melanin production to correct and prevent dark spots. Its high antioxidant content, particularly astaxanthin, helps protect skin cells from premature ageing, whilst squalane and camellia oil nourish and strengthen the skin barrier without weighing the skin down, offering a comprehensive, effective and perfectly tolerated skincare solution for mature skin seeking radiance and comfort.
What routine should you follow when using this product?

Step 1: Removing make-up and cleansing your face
In the morning and in the evening, start by cleansing your skin with a gentle cleanser suitable for your skin type, such as the Gentle Prebiotic, Zinc & Cucumber Cleansing Gel. This step is essential for removing make-up, excess sebum, pollution and sun filters. In the evening, don’t forget to remove your make-up before cleansing, even if you don’t wear any. Clean skin allows active ingredients to penetrate more effectively and maximises the efficacy of your skincare products.

Step 2: tone and rebalance the skin
Spray on a toning lotion or hydrosol (Damask rose hydrosol, orange blossom or helichrysum depending on your skin’s needs). This step helps to rebalance the skin’s pH, refresh the skin and prepare it for the next steps in your skincare routine.

Step 3: Apply the Vitamin C & Glabridine Anti-Dark Spot Oil Serum
Place 2 to 3 drops of Vitamin C & Glabridine Anti-Dark Spot Oil Serum into the palm of your hand, warm it slightly, then apply to the face, neck and décolletage using gentle, circular movements. Its light oil texture absorbs quickly and leaves no greasy residue. It can be used morning and evening.

Step 4: provide additional hydration
If your skin is dry, mature or feeling uncomfortable, apply your usual moisturiser afterwards to lock in the moisture and strengthen the skin barrier. You could opt for our Hyaluronic Acid & Polyglutamic Acid cream, which has moisturising, plumping and anti-wrinkle properties. For normal to combination skin, the Oil Serum may sometimes be sufficient on its own.

Step 5 (mornings only): protect your skin from the sun
Always finish your morning routine with a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. This step is essential to prevent the appearance of new pigmentation spots and to protect the skin from premature ageing caused by UV rays, especially when using active ingredients such as vitamin C.
Contraindications and precautions for use
Although the Vitamin C & Glabridine Anti-Dark Spot Oil Serum is formulated to be gentle and suitable for sensitive skin, certain precautions are important. Skin-lightening active ingredients such as vitamin C can make the skin more sensitive to the sun. Use a broad-spectrum sun cream (SPF 30+) every day, even on overcast days. Before using the product on your face for the first time, carry out a patch test on a small area (the inside of your wrist) to check for any sensitivity or allergic reaction. Finally, as the skin around the eyes is particularly delicate, avoid applying the serum directly to this area. If irritation persists, stop using the product and consult a healthcare professional.
Expert advice
The effectiveness of a dark spot-fighting serum is enhanced when it forms part of a comprehensive skincare routine comprising gentle cleansing, rich moisturising, daily sun protection and, where appropriate, complementary active ingredients (such as mild AHAs or niacinamide, depending on your needs). Please also note that results on pigmentation spots are not immediate: it takes at least four to eight weeks of regular application, morning and evening, to see a visible improvement. Finally, without suitable sun protection, spots may reappear or become more pronounced, even with the best skincare: applying sun protection in the morning is therefore an essential step in any anti-dark spot routine.
