Jujube, also known as Sidr, is traditionally used in Ayurvedic practices to soothe Pitta and Kapha constitutions. Rich in saponins and mucilages, it is a key ingredient in plant-based shampoo formulations. When incorporated into formulations, it cleanses, enhances, and adds volume to the hair. It is particularly suitable for washing coloured hair (dyed with Indigo or Katam) without causing fading, while helping to fix the colour. Rich in mucilages and astringent, this powder is also used to care for uncomfortable scalps and combat dandruff.

Ayurveda, or Ayurvedic medicine, is a comprehensive and sacred therapeutic science used for over 5,000 years in India. It is also a philosophy and a way of life. In Sanskrit, "ayur" means "life" and "veda" means "science or knowledge" . Each individual is born with a unique proportion of each dosha, often one or two doshas are predominant. The goal of Ayurveda is to exist in harmony with your basic constitution, understand what helps you to stay healthy, be happy, and have beautiful skin, while also learning to identify anything that makes you ill or unhappy.

To maintain the balance of your constitution, you need to choose activities, foods, or herbs that oppose the characteristics of your predominant doshas, thus calming them.

Sidr, also known as Jujube, is a fruit tree that can grow in various types of soil and is suited to arid lands. Originating from China, it is widespread in the Middle East, and is also found in East Africa, Pakistan, and some neighbouring countries.

The leaves of the Jujube tree also play an important role in the purification ritual for the deceased in Muslim tradition.

Rich in saponins, Jujube powder can be used to mak shampoo pastes. It is the "cousin" of Shikakai , with additional cleansing properties for hair that has been dyed (with Indigo or Katam) without causing colour to fade. It also helps to fix hair dye.

Rich in mucilages and astringent, this leaf powder is also used to soothe the scalp and combat dandruff.
