What are the benefits of Ceylon Cinnamon?
Digestion: Ceylon Cinnamon is highly valued for its digestive benefits. It has traditionally been used to help support intestinal comfort.
A true concentrate of antioxidants such as flavonoids and polyphenols, Ceylon Cinnamon is ideal for complementing a healthy and balanced diet.
According to several studies, cinnamon may help support normal blood sugar balance as part of a varied and balanced diet. A daily intake of around 2 to 3 g with meals is therefore recommended.*
A warm and comforting flavour: Cinnamon powder enhances both sweet and savoury recipes with its warm, aromatic notes. It is delicious in carrot cake, gingerbread, cinnamon rolls, baked apples and many other desserts. It is also perfect in hot drinks such as lattes and herbal infusions, adding a warm, delicately sweet flavour.
This Ceylon Cinnamon, or Cinnamomum zeylanicum, is what is known as “true cinnamon”. It has a warm, mild, and distinctive flavour that should not be confused with Chinese Cinnamon, which has a stronger and less delicate taste.
Here are a few ideas for incorporating Ceylon Cinnamon into your diet:
Stir it into a hot drink to enhance hot chocolate or coffee.
Add 1 teaspoon to your porridge, chia pudding or breakfast bowl for an easy way to enjoy it every day.
Sprinkle it over apple tarts or incorporate it into recipes such as carrot cake, apple strudel, brioche and other pastries.
Add it to your favourite winter latte, such as a pumpkin spice latte, for a warm and comforting drink.
Mix a little into yoghurt or fromage frais for a naturally flavourful alternative to added sugar.
Stir a little into your pancake batter for a warm, comforting and energising breakfast.
100% pure Cinnamomum zeylanicum, “true cinnamon”: Ceylon Cinnamon (Cinnamomum zeylanicum or Cinnamomum verum) and Chinese Cinnamon (Cinnamomum cassia) are two distinct cinnamon varieties.Often referred to as “true cinnamon,” Ceylon Cinnamon generally comes from Madagascar, Sri Lanka, or Tanzania and is prized for its mild, delicate, and aromatic flavour. In contrast, Chinese Cinnamon has a stronger, more pungent taste and a thicker, rougher bark. Ceylon Cinnamon is generally considered a preferred choice due to its very low coumarin content. Coumarin is a naturally occurring compound found in higher amounts in Chinese Cinnamon powder and may be harmful to the liver when consumed in high quantities. Ceylon Cinnamon also contains antioxidants, including polyphenols and flavonoids.
Coumarin content is tested in every batch to ensure safety and prevent any mixing with Chinese Cinnamon. In fact, cinnamon is sometimes sold as “Ceylon Cinnamon” while actually being blended with Chinese Cinnamon, which is less expensive and has a stronger flavour.
Regular testing to verify quality and safety: pesticides, heavy metals, microbiological quality, and other safety criteria.

Ceylon Cinnamon, also known as “true cinnamon,” is a precious spice with a history dating back thousands of years. Originally from the island of Ceylon, now known as Sri Lanka, cinnamon has been prized by many civilizations over the centuries, from the Greeks and Romans to Arab traders who introduced it to European markets.
The Ceylon cinnamon tree, or Cinnamomum zeylanicum, belongs to the Lauraceae family. It can grow up to 10–15 metres tall and has evergreen, smooth, oblong leaves with a glossy green appearance. Its greenish flowers have a rather unpleasant scent, while its fruits are purple berries. The Ceylon cinnamon tree thrives in tropical regions, favouring warm and humid climates. It is mainly cultivated in Sri Lanka and Madagascar, as well as in Tanzania and other tropical areas. The bark is traditionally harvested during the rainy season, when conditions are ideal for the tree’s growth.
Traditionally, Ceylon Cinnamon has been used for both culinary and traditional wellness purposes. In cooking, it is appreciated for its warm, sweet aromas, making it a perfect addition to pastries and desserts. In traditional practices, it is valued for its purifying and soothing properties, as well as its role in supporting digestion. During the Middle Ages, cinnamon was considered a luxury product reserved for the wealthy. So precious was this spice that it was often offered as a gift to monarchs and deities. Merchants carefully guarded the secret of its origin, presenting cinnamon as a rare and mysterious commodity.
