Turmeric (Curcuma longa) is a rhizomatous botanical plant in the Zingiberaceae family, the same family as ginger and cardamom, two other well-known and much-loved culinary spices. This short-stemmed tropical plant with brightly coloured flowers grows in warm, sunny regions with fertile soil. It is the rhizomes, bright orange tuberous underground stems, that are used in cooking, either fresh or dried as a powder: the latter is one of the essential ingredients in curry.
Nicknamed the "Saffron of India", this plant is rich in curcumin, a plant-derived active ingredient from the curcuminoid family, which gives it its superb colour. Curcumin is widely known for its anti-inflammatory effects, and is particularly recommended for joint discomfort or rheumatism.
Turmeric in its powdered form is a veritable natural treasure trove, renowned for its many benefits, and an ideal occasional or regular addition to a diet that combines health and joy. Easy to use, it is perfect for relieving digestive problems, and as an everyday part of an "anti-inflammatory diet" or antioxidant diet. In cooking, it is traditionally combined with pepper or edible oil to optimise its effects. However, if you take turmeric for joint health and rheumatism, we recommend you try our Optimised Curcumin - 30 Capsules, specially developed for this purpose, made with an ORGANIC Turmeric rhizome extract with a 95% concentration of curcuminoids, whose bioavailability is exceptional thanks to patented technology.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, Turmeric is a spice that can be incorporated into your daily diet.
These two products are completely different and have different uses and benefits:
Our ORGANIC Turmeric powder is a 100% pure powder of turmeric rhizomes, for everyday use in cooking or in your drinks as a spice or "superfood". It is an ideal part of a healthy diet and provides valuable support for the digestive system.
The ORGANIC Optimised Curcumin food supplement is made from a patented extract of turmeric with a 95% concentration of curcuminoids, microencapsulated in a matrix which significantly improves the bioavailability of curcumin, to harness its powerful effect on the body. Formulated in capsules with a clinically assessed dosage, it can be used as a food supplement to promote joint health and control the body's inflammatory reactions.
There are no particular contraindications to consuming Turmeric powder in small doses as a spice in your daily diet, or occasionally in drinks such as "golden lotion".
On the other hand, regular consumption of Turmeric in high doses, for example if you are making Turmeric capsules, is contraindicated in people suffering from obstruction of the bile ducts (stones) or stomach or duodenal ulcers, and is not recommended during pregnancy or when breastfeeding. If you have liver disease or are taking anticoagulant medication, we recommend seeking your doctor's advice, especially if you are combining high doses of Turmeric with black pepper, which is known to enhance the absorption of curcumin.
Turmeric is very often combined with black pepper, which contains an active ingredient, piperine, that helps to improve the bioavailability of curcumin, i.e. the proportion of the active ingredient that passes into the bloodstream and can act on the body. In cooking, it can therefore be a good idea to combine turmeric with black pepper to maximise the benefits of this spice, and they are often found together in traditional spice blends.
On the other hand, if you regularly use large doses of Turmeric in combination with black pepper, for example by preparing capsules for a course of treatment, there are contraindications, particularly in the case of liver or gall bladder disorders or particular sensitivities.
For use as a food supplement with good bioavailability of curcumin, to benefit from its powerful effects on the body, we recommend our ORGANIC Optimised Curcumin Food Supplement, which contains a controlled dose of highly bioavailable curcumin that has been clinically studied to be effective and safe.
Yes, there are no contraindications to children consuming this spice in cooking in typical doses.
However, using high doses of Turmeric on a regular basis as a course of treatment is not suitable for children.
Perfect
Good for skin radiance and removing dark spots
Very satisfied, thank you.
I drank it with milk every morning and added a little pepper for a fixative. It's to relieve muscle pain. And I make a face mask with turmeric. I mix it with milk and honey. I also recommend it.
