When should I take the Fat Binder food supplement?


We have selected top-quality ORGANIC Nopal powder whose fibre content has been standardised using a patented process. Nopal, also known as Prickly Pear, is recognised for its weight management benefits thanks to the fibre contained in its cladodes (equivalent to leaves). This ORGANIC Nopal-based food supplement is therefore ideal for:

How does the fat binder work?


This ORGANIC Nopal powder is unique in that it contains over 35% dietary fibre. Its specific combination of soluble and insoluble fibre, resulting from a patented process, provides a unique two-stage fat-binding mechanism:

  • In the stomach, the insoluble fibre binds to the fat, then the soluble fibre acts to stabilise the fat-insoluble fibre complex, creating a fluid gel;

  • Thanks to its high density, the gel is naturally excreted, reducing fat absorption.

This mechanism reduces the bioavailability of fats and allows them to be eliminated naturally.

This effect is supported by clinical studies which show:

  • A 28% reduction in fat absorption in an in vitro model (²)

  • An average increase in relative fat excretion of 27% in men (³)

What are the benefits of Nopal?


Known for its effects on the absorption of fats and sugars, nopal powder may also have an effect on the lipid profile. This was shown in a study of women with metabolic syndrome (a combination of several disorders linked to the presence of excess fat) who were following a balanced diet. The results indicate that there was an improvement in the lipid profile of the participants: 39 %(⁴) of the women no longer had metabolic syndrome at the end of the study (compared with 8% in the placebo group).

Nopal is a cactus, more commonly known as the Prickly Pear, which originated in Mexico but has become naturalised on other continents, particularly in South Africa and the Mediterranean basin. There are over a hundred species, but Opuntia ficus-indica is the most widely used. Legend has it that it was discovered by the Aztecs when they were looking for a place to settle. They stopped near a grove of nopal and founded the city of Tenochtitlan, which is said to mean "the place where the nopal grows", which later became known as Mexico City. It even features on the national flag!
