Copper Peptides are a tripeptide complex composed of amino acids and copper ions. Copper Peptides occur naturally in the body; they play a role in the human body’s metabolism and offer numerous benefits: they stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, help protect skin cells from damage caused by free radicals, maintain hydration and repair the skin, notably by reducing inflammatory factors.

Copper Peptides, and more specifically the GHK-Cu complex, can transport essential trace elements, such as copper, to skin cells. Naturally present in human plasma, this tripeptide acts as an early repair signal during skin discomfort and is released when collagen breaks down.

Its main action is to stimulate fibroblasts—the key cells responsible for the skin’s youthfulness—to increase the synthesis of major structural proteins such as collagen and elastin.

In addition to boosting production, Copper Peptides play a vital regulatory role in the enzymes that break down the skin matrix, helping maintain firmer skin and prevent the accumulation of damaged proteins.

They also aid the synthesis of moisturising molecules such as glycosaminoglycans and decorin, a protein that organises collagen fibres to ensure their uniformity and cohesion.
