The coconut palm Cocos nucifera is a species of palm tree in the Arecaceae family that grows throughout the humid intertropical zone. Coconut palms often live for over a century and can generally be harvested for 50 to 80 years, producing between 150 and 200 coconuts each year on average.
The fruit of the coconut palm consists of a fibrous husk, called the coir, which encloses the coconut, surrounded by a hard, brown shell. Inside the nut is the white, shiny albumen, also called coconut flesh or pulp, which is 10 to 15 mm thick, with the center of the nut being hollow. A slightly sweet, opalescent liquid called "coconut water" fills part of the internal cavity of the nuts.
Coconut milk, which should not be confused with coconut water, is a creamy milk obtained from fresh coconut pulp that has been grated and pressed with water. In Southeast Asian countries, coconut milk is widely used in cooking and baking.
Coconut milk is rich in minerals (iron, calcium, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, manganese, copper, zinc, selenium), vitamins (vitamins B1, B3, B6, B9, C, E, and K) and fatty acids.
Highly prized in cooking, where it adds richness and creaminess to dishes and an exotic touch to both savory and sweet recipes, coconut milk is also useful in natural cosmetics for nourishing the skin and hair. Suitable for all skin and hair types, it is used in skincare products for its revitalizing, anti-aging, and moisturizing properties. Its high lauric acid and protein content makes it an excellent active ingredient for hair care, nourishing and beautifying.
Our coconut milk powder is obtained by freeze-drying (cold drying that preserves all the active ingredients and nutrients) using an innovative process that produces a coconut milk powder that is 100% pure coconut, with no additives or carriers, for a truly intense and authentic taste, with no added sugar, and maximum effectiveness in cosmetics.
