Kobido massage is an ancient Japanese facial massage technique that dates back more than 500 years. Also known as the “ancient path to beauty”, it is renowned for its rejuvenating and revitalizing effects. It combines rapid, rhythmic movements with sophisticated manual techniques and deeper pressure to target and stimulate the different layers of the skin and facial muscles. Kobido massage is distinguished by its holistic approach, combining massage, acupressure, and lymphatic drainage techniques to revitalise the skin, improve blood circulation and promote a radiant complexion.
Kobido massage: where does it come from?
Kobido massage takes its name from the meanings of ko (ancestral), bi (beauty), and do (way). The technique has been practiced since the 15th century and originated in a location south of Mount Fuji in Japan. According to legend, two masseuses were competing to win the favour of the empress, who had requested a special facial treatment. Unable to distinguish themselves from one another, the two masseuses founded a beauty salon called La Maison Kobido, which gradually opened its doors to the public before eventually reaching an international audience.
