In dry shampoos: peony powder can be mixed with other natural powders and essential oils
In masks and poultices: mix peony powder with other natural powders (clays, plant powders, etc.) and add water to form a paste.
In emulsions, gels, lotions, shampoos: prepare an aqueous (or hydro-glycerine) macerate or infusion of peony and incorporate it into the aqueous phase.

Choose an amount appropriate for your formula, allowing a little extra to compensate for losses due to filtration.

How to use

Weigh the amount of powder using a scale.
Using a powder funnel, pour the powder into the water.
Shake well to disperse the powder evenly in the liquid.
Leave to macerate for 24 hours away from air and light, shaking occasionally.
After maceration, filter using a coffee filter or a suitable clean cloth.
Collect the filtrate and transfer it using a clean pipette to a clean, airtight bottle that has been disinfected beforehand.

Uses

This solution can be incorporated as an aqueous phase in your hair care products.

Caution: without preservatives, this extract is very sensitive to microbial contamination. Be sure to use it quickly and store it in the refrigerator. If you want to keep it longer, you will need to add a preservative such as Aroma-Zone Grapefruit Seed Extract or Cosgard: 20 drops per 100 ml of macerate.

With its large red, purple or white flowers, the peony is primarily cultivated for its ornamental qualities. But did you know that this plant also plays an important role in Chinese pharmacopoeia? It is traditionally used to relieve menstrual pain and support childbirth. In addition, recent studies have highlighted the presence of paeoniflorin in its roots, making this plant a very interesting cosmetic active ingredient for soothing skin irritation.

Its traditionally recognised anti-inflammatory properties were used to soothe sensitive scalps. This powder is a particularly suitable ingredient for calming itchy skin and scalps, especially those prone to dandruff.
