Choose an amount appropriate to the quantity needed in your formula, allowing a little extra to compensate for losses due to filtration.
Method of use
Mix the mineral water and glycerin in a sealed bottle that has been disinfected (rinsed with rubbing alcohol), taking all necessary hygiene precautions.
Weigh the amount of powder using a scale.
Using a powder funnel, pour the powder into the aqueous mixture.
Shake well to disperse the powder evenly in the liquid.
Leave to macerate for 24 hours away from air and light, shaking occasionally.
After maceration, filter using a coffee filter or a suitable clean cloth.
Collect the filtrate and transfer it using a clean pipette to a clean, airtight bottle that has been previously disinfected.
This extract is ready to be incorporated as an aqueous phase in your skincare products.
Caution: without preservatives, this extract is very sensitive to microbial contamination. Be sure to use it quickly and store it in the refrigerator.
If you want to keep it longer, you will need to add a preservative: 10 drops of Aroma-Zone or Cosgard Grapefruit Seed Extract per 50 ml of macerate and 20 drops per 100 ml of macerate.

Learn more
Glycyrrhizic acid, also known as glycyrrhizin, is the characteristic molecule and major component of licorice. Well known for its sweetening power, which is 30 to 50 times greater than that of sugar, it is also responsible for the very pleasant and characteristic taste of licorice sticks. This is why it is highly valued in the manufacture of toothpaste.
Recent studies also show that glycyrrhizin, 18-beta-glycyrrhetinic acid, and liquiritigenin, found in licorice root, have powerful anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic properties and therefore have soothing potential in certain cases of skin allergies.
A hydroglycerine macerate of licorice powder is therefore the ideal active ingredient for soothing irritated or sensitive skin.
Licorice also contains numerous flavonoids known for their antioxidant activity and their ability to trap free radicals and fight lipid peroxidation, which is very useful in anti-aging and soothing products. Finally, glabrene and isoliquiritigenin are thought to inhibit tyrosinase, an enzyme involved in melanin biosynthesis, making licorice a preferred ingredient in the development of skin-lightening products. It is important to note that regular and high intake of glycyrrhizin (more than 1 g/day) is not recommended in cases of high blood pressure.

EO = Essential Oil VO = Vegetable Oil or oil macerate
For a 50 ml glass jar
Equipment: 1 saucepan; 1 mortar; 1 pestle; 1 mini whisk; 1 scale.
Aloe vera oil macerate: 15 g
Organic Rosemary Verbenone Hydrosol: 5 g
Vegetable substitute for lanolin: 2 g
Rice wax: 2 g
Shea butter: 1 g
Licorice powder: 1 teaspoon
Propolis plant tincture: 5 drops
Natural vitamin E: 4 drops
Method: Pour the aloe vera oil macerate, rice wax, and shea butter into the mortar. Heat the mixture in a double boiler until the rice wax and shea butter are completely melted. Remove the saucepan from the heat and wait for the mixture to cool slightly. Add the rosemary hydrosol in small amounts, stirring in a figure-eight motion with the pestle at the bottom of the mortar to help the emulsion set. Add the licorice powder, vegetable lanolin substitute, propolis vegetable tincture, and vitamin E, continuing to stir in a figure-eight motion with the pestle. Pour the mixture into the jar and store in a cool place.
Important notes (Aroma-Zone): It is not easy to make a stable emulsion (cream, milk) using only wax. As waxes are weak emulsifiers, we recommend adding an emulsifier. In addition, to ensure the preservation of this preparation, we recommend adding a preservative.
