Combinations
Explore new combinations to refine your creation.
Synergies: if your skin is sensitive, add a soothing active ingredient, such as bisabolol or allantoin, to your AHA preparations.
Incompatibilities with certain active ingredients: we advise against combining AHAs with alkalinising active ingredients (vitamin C, bamboo sap, lithothamnion). Fruit acid AHAs are acidic active ingredients and for optimum effectiveness, the pH of the formulas should be between 4 and 5.5.
Incompatibility with clays: since fruit acid AHAs are an acidic active ingredient and require a slightly acidic pH to be effective, we do not recommend incorporating them into your clay masks, which are slightly alkaline due to the nature of the clays.
Incompatibility with peel-off masks: this acidic active ingredient is not suitable for use in peel-off masks (it does not work in an acidic environment).

Add it to a neutral AZ base
AHAs can be incorporated into a ready-made AZ Neutral Base to make:
An emulsion: with Organic Neutral Plant Milk, Organic Neutral Age-Defying and Organic Moisturising Creams, Organic Neutral Hair Mask Base,
A water-based gel: with organic aloe vera Gel,
A foaming product: with organic Neutral Cleansing Base, organic Neutral Cleansing Cream and organic Neutral Shampoo Base.
Integrate the AHAs into one of the AZ neutral bases (listed above) to make an emulsion, a water-based gel or a foaming product
Step 1
Pour your product into a cosmetic preparation bowl or other suitable container.
Step 2
Add the desired quantity of Plant Collagen (see table of typical dosages above and within the limit of the maximum percentage to be incorporated into AZ Neutral Base of 5%).
Step 3
Stir to mix well.
Step 4
Pour the product into its container, using a pipette if necessary.
Note
Any addition of active ingredients to a ready-to-use cosmetic product can change its appearance (particularly its viscosity) and stability. AHAs in particular are an acidic active ingredient that can destabilise formulas, especially if added in high doses. We therefore advise you to limit yourself to a low dosage (1-3%) and to start by trying on a small quantity of product.
Make a recipe from A to Z
AHAs can be incorporated as an active ingredient in all your formulas containing water: creams, milks, lotions, cleansing gels, shampoos, etc.
Incorporate AHAs into all your water-containing formulas
Step 1
Add the DHA cold, at the end of the formulation.
Step 2
Shake to mix well.

The term AHA refers to Alpha Hydroxy Acids. These are carboxylic acids derived mainly from fruit sugars. The main fruit acids are lactic, malic, glycolic, citric and tartaric.
The best known are glycolic and lactic acids because they have a particular ability to penetrate the skin and are commonly used for their peeling effect.
These peelings literally "give you a new skin" , restoring radiance to the complexion, smoothing out surface blemishes and pigmentation, reducing wrinkles and fine lines and so on.
Fruit acids promote cell renewal, but are also known to increase skin elasticity by stimulating collagen production.
The properties of AHAs can be explained by different modes of action:
1. Keratolytic action on the stratum corneum: AHAs affect the ionic bonds and stability of the stratum corneum, causing it to gradually detach.
2. Increase in the degree of hydration of the stratum corneum (humectant property).
3. Stimulation of the biosynthesis of dermal glycosaminoglycans (compounds that form the skin's support tissue).
4. Stimulation of collagen production
5. Improvement in the elastic fibres of the reticular dermis
Various studies indicate that regular, prolonged application (3 to 6 months) of AHAs helps to reduce fine lines, diminish the depth of wrinkles and lighten hyperpigmented areas.
Unlike retinoic acid (a powerful peeling agent), AHAs are generally well tolerated by the skin.
Storage
Store at room temperature, away from moisture and light. Close the bottle tightly after use.
Precautions
Keep out of reach of children. Do not swallow, avoid contact with eyes.
Do not use undiluted on the skin. Follow the recommended dosage.
Some skins are sensitive to fruit acids; always carry out a sensitisation test in the crook of your elbow for each of your product mixes 48 hours before use.
Avoid contact with the eyes.
Avoid exposure to the sun.
Use daily sun protection and avoid exposure to the sun for up to a week after the last application.
