Method of production
This hydroglycerine extract is obtained by macerating organic ivy leaves in a natural water/glycerin mixture.
Most of the active ingredients in ivy are soluble in an aqueous medium. Thus, by macerating the ivy in a water/glycerin mixture, the active ingredients will very easily dissolve in the extraction liquid. After filtration, a water/glycerin mixture loaded with the plant's active ingredients is obtained.

Ivy has been known to man since ancient times. The Egyptians dedicated it to Osiris, god of fertility and ruler of the kingdom of the dead. For the Greeks, it protected against drunkenness and symbolised the warrior's victory. It was also used to treat migraines (by rubbing the leaves between the hands and applying them to the temples), and there was a specific ritual to follow: the ivy leaves had to be picked from the head of a statue, rubbed, and wrapped in red cloth before being applied to the temples.
In the 15th century, Leonardo da Vinci claimed that animals in the woods would seek out areas covered in ivy and roll around in it, bringing their wounds into contact with the trampled ivy, which released its sap, helping the wounds to heal better. Studies have since shown that the leaves have a pain-relieving effect. It is sometimes recommended for rheumatism and neuralgia. Today, ivy is used in cosmetics as an active ingredient in slimming products.
