Properties

As a cosmetic ingredient, organic almond plant-based butter is recognised for the following properties:

Intensely nourishes the skin.
Emollient and softening, leaves skin supple and soft.
Protective, forms a light film on the skin’s surface and helps reduce dehydration. Supports the regeneration of the natural hydrolipidic film and helps rebalance dry, dehydrated skin.
Restores and soothes skin thanks to the phytosterols it contains, making it ideal for sensitive skin.
Provides antioxidant benefits due to its high unsaponifiable content, helping to combat the visible signs of ageing.
Quite stable to oxidation and does not oxidise easily.

In practice

This butter can be added as an ingredient in the oil phase of your cosmetic blends for nourishing creams, balms and sticks.
In cold saponification: in synergy with other oils and butters, almond butter makes soap hard and its unsaponifiables soften the formula.

Body butter-type nourishing cream

Gentle olive emulsifying wax
10 g
Butter of your choice
30 g
Mineral water
59 ml
Cosgard Preservative
20 drops
Cosmetic fragrance or aromatic rxtract (optional) + mineral oxide (optional)
30 drops + 0.1 g

Step 1

Heat the water and oil phase (Sweet Olive Wax and butter) to around 70°C in 2 separate bowls.

Step 2

Mix the phases and shake vigorously for at least 3 mins to form the emulsion, then for a further 3 mins, cooling the bowl in a cold water bath.

Step 3

Add the preservative and, if necessary, the fragrance and colouring.

In practice

This butter is incorporated into the oil phase of your cosmetic hair blends, such as creams, conditioners, masks, and balms. Apply your preparation to the hair, focusing on the ends. Massage gently, then wrap the hair in a warm towel. Leave on overnight if possible, then shampoo.
It may also be added to the oil phase of your repairing hair blends, ideal for use after exposure to damaging factors such as sun, sea salt, or frequent washing.

To coat and protect the hair while leaving it shiny: ceramides, phytokeratin, silk proteins in emulsion
To improve hair condition and enhance shine: castor oil, ylang-ylang essential oil
For hair care products for blonde hair or highlights: German chamomile essential oil or hydrosol, turmeric powder in emulsion
For hair care products for brown hair: walnut husk, chestnut henna in emulsion

The almond tree belongs to the Rosaceae family. Its delicate pinkish white flowers, often described as symbols of purity, are the first to bloom on fruit trees at the end of winter, even in the presence of morning frosts. These blossoms are unusual in that they appear well before the almond tree’s leaves.

Unlike its cousin the apricot, the fruit has a thin, hard, and dry flesh that cannot be eaten.

However, hidden inside this unappetising fruit is a kernel which, depending on the variety, can be bitter and toxic or, on the contrary, sweet. It is from the latter that a highly nutritious, softening light yellow oil is extracted: sweet almond oil.

Used in ancient times by high-society Egyptian women to make massage ointments based on honey, aromatic wine and cinnamon, this oil is now widely recognised and used as a cosmetic ingredient for its softening and smoothing properties.

Our Organic Almond Butter has all the same properties as this fabulous oil, but with a thicker, richer and very delicious texture, making it an ideal ingredient to add to the oil phase of your cosmetic formulations. Its velvety texture makes it a real pleasure to use.
