Avocado Butter

Uses

As an ingredient in your cosmetic blends to formulate:

• Nourishing, soothing and protective butters and balms

• Massage balms

• Lip balms and sticks

• Restorative creams or balms for damaged hands (outdoor workers, intensive hand washing, cold)

Step 1

Heat the water and the oil phase (sweet olive wax and butter) to around 70°C in 2 separate bowls.

Step 2

Mix the phases and shake vigorously for at least 3 mins to form the emulsion, then for a further 3 mins, cooling the bowl in a cold water bath.

Step 3

Add the preservative and, if necessary, the fragrance and colouring.

Uses

As an ingredient in your cosmetic blends to formulate:

• Hair masks and balms

• Styling products for frizzy hair

• Nourishing and repairing hair care for dry or "afro" type hair

On the skin

• This butter is used as an oil phase when making nourishing creams, possibly mixed with carrier oils.

• This butter is used as an oil phase when making balms and sticks.

On the hair

• Intense nourishing mask for dry hair: this butter can be added as an ingredient in the oil phase of your cosmetic blends for hair masks and balms. Apply your mixture to your hair, concentrating on the ends. Massage into the hair, then wrap with a warm towel. Leave on for 1 hour, then shampoo.

• Can be used as an oil phase when making hair creams: conditioners, masks, etc., or when making hair balms.

• At the beach, to protect your hair from the harmful effects of the sea and the sun: add to your hair balm and spread evenly throughout your hair.

Further explanation

If your butter has taken on a grainy appearance, melt it completely in a bain-marie, then place it in the fridge so it cools quickly and turns back into a smoother consistency. If you want a very creamy texture, take the butter out of the fridge after 10 minutes and whip it with a mini whisk, then put it back in the fridge and repeat the process after 10 minutes.
