Cystoseira compressa is a brown algae that grows in the Mediterranean Sea and the northeast Atlantic Ocean. Its cellulose-free walls are mainly made up of sulphated polysaccharides known as fucoidanes. These widely-studied molecules are renowned for their many therapeutic properties, particularly as soothing and antioxidant agents.
