What is collagen?

Collagen is a structural protein that is naturally present in our bodies (and in those of many animals). It plays a key role in the body's connective tissues (skin, cartilage, tendons, ligaments, etc.). Collagen, or rather collagens as there are several types, are macromolecules, large proteins that ensure the cohesion, resistance and elasticity of our tissues. Collagens are the proteins most commonly found in the human body. Our dermis contains around 65-75% (dry weight), and our tendons 70-85% (dry weight).

What is vegan collagen?

There's no such thing as vegan collagen!

Collagen is a protein that only exists in the animal kingdom, so it cannot be vegan. The collagen used in food supplements can be of marine, bovine or porcine origin.

Therefore, our Vegan Collagen Booster food supplement is not technically collagen. It is a blend of amino acids (including glycine and proline) which reproduces the amino acid profile of human type I collagen, i.e. the collagen that is found predominantly in our skin. This blend has been optimised by the addition of plant extracts (ginseng and Centella asiatica) and Vitamin C, which act as inducers to promote collagen synthesis by our skin.

What is the difference between Aroma-Zone's Vegan Collagen and Marine Collagen?

Our Marine Collagen food supplement is made from hydrolysed collagen peptides from fish. These peptides are small chains of amino acids or, in other words, small pieces of protein obtained after enzymatic hydrolysis (i.e. cutting up enzymes) of the collagen protein. Hydrolysis makes marine collagen more absorbable by the body. We have chosen a hydrolysed marine collagen with a low molecular weight (2000 Da), i.e. sufficiently small peptides for excellent absorption by the body and optimum effectiveness. Our Marine Collagen has clinical data proving its effectiveness.

The Vegan Collagen Booster food supplement does not contain derivatives from animal origin, so it does not contain collagen or peptides. It is made up of amino acids in carefully researched proportions to reproduce the exact amino acid profile of human type I collagen. These amino acids are combined with plant extracts and Vitamin C to support our skin's natural collagen synthesis. This unique blend, registered under the name VeCollal®, is currently the only vegan alternative to collagen with scientifically proven effectiveness.

Therefore, the composition of our Vegan Collagen Booster is different from that of hydrolysed marine collagen. They are two different products, but what is important is the efficacy: clinical studies have confirmed that VeCollal® Vegan Collagen Booster has similar effects to marine collagen in reducing wrinkles, increasing the skin's collagen density and firmness and improving the skin's texture, hydration and tone.

Our Vegan Collagen Booster is an ideal alternative to our Marine Collagen for people who are vegan or do not eat fish. You can also alternate courses of Marine Collagen and Vegan Collagen Booster, if you wish!

How long does it take to see results on the skin?

Clinical studies show results after 1 to 2 months. Ideally, repeat a course of supplements at least 2 or 3 times a year to maintain the effects.

Can your Vegan Collagen Booster be heated or diluted in a hot drink?

No, it contains Vitamin C, which is sensitive to heat. We recommend consuming it cold, diluted in a glass of water or fruit juice.

When should I take the Vegan Collagen Booster?

This food supplement can be taken at any time of day. Regularity is important for food supplements to be effective. Ideally, find a time that can be easily integrated into your daily routine. For example, in the morning with breakfast or in the evening with dinner.

Can the Vegan Collagen Booster be taken during pregnancy?

No, this food supplement is not recommended during pregnancy or when breastfeeding.

What are the effects of collagen on the face?

Collagen is the structural foundation of our skin, keeping it firm and elastic. Taking collagen as a food supplement has a number of benefits on facial skin: it visibly reduces wrinkles and fine lines, giving the skin a smoother, younger appearance. It improves skin elasticity, reducing sagging and giving the face a more toned look.

In multiple studies, our Vegan Collagen Booster has been shown to stimulate the skin's natural collagen density, helping to maintain its firmness and tone. What's more, clinical studies show it has similar beneficial effects on the skin to marine collagen food supplements: it reduces the appearance of wrinkles, improves elasticity and promotes good skin hydration, giving it a supple, soft texture. It also reduces the appearance of enlarged pores, contributing to more even, smoother skin. Finally, it evens out and brightens the complexion and reduces redness, leaving skin visibly brighter and more radiant.
