Properties

Why choose Aroma-Zone Organic Astaxanthin capsules?

  • Premium quality Astaxanthin, certified organic, 100% natural and vegan, extracted from Haematococcus pluvialis algae.

  • Seaweed is grown in Europe, in closed photo-bioreactors, free from any pollution, for a high-purity product.

  • Extraction using supercritical CO2, a gentle, solvent-free technology that produces high-quality, concentrated plant extracts.

  • The concentrated oleoresin extracted from the Haematococcus pluvialis algae is added to an oily base (organic olive oil), so the astaxanthin is absorbed better by the body and for optimum stability.

  • Astaxanthin in its natural form, enantiomeric 3S, 3'S configuration, which guarantees the best efficacy.

  • High content of 80mg of oleoresin extracted from Haematococcus pluvialis algae, i.e. 8mg of pure Astaxanthin per capsule, which is the optimal and maximum dose authorised in Europe for an effective intake at a rate of 1 capsule per day.

Why take Astaxanthin?

  • To combat oxidative stress after sun exposure: A powerful antioxidant, astaxanthin could help neutralise free radicals. In particular, singlet oxygen, which is generated within the skin by UV rays.

  • To combat premature ageing: Studies show that astaxanthin is useful for helping to maintain the skin's elasticity and preserving its youthful, plump appearance.

  • For sportspeople: Studies show that astaxanthin can be beneficial in supporting endurance training and sports, and combating the free radicals generated during intense physical exercise.

  • Astaxanthin is often used in food supplements to maintain eye health.

  • Studies suggest that Astaxanthin may be beneficial in maintaining our overall well-being and metabolic health as we age.

What are the properties of Astaxanthin?

To date, no claims have been authorised for astaxanthin-based food supplements. However, astaxanthin has been the subject of numerous scientific studies, which have highlighted its powerful antioxidant properties. Astaxanthin is of particular interest in nutricosmetics for promoting beautiful skin from the inside out, sports nutrition, maintaining vision and supporting ageing.

Aroma-Zone food supplements: Quality, Efficacy, Safety

Why choose Aroma-Zone food supplements?

To respond to our customers' demand for natural, effective and safe food supplements, we are proud to present our food supplements after many months of work. To meet your expectations, we developed our food supplements with 3 keywords in mind: Quality, Safety and Efficacy, while ensuring they are affordable for as many people as possible. Find out more about our commitments regarding dietary supplements below:

Clean label policy and composition transparency

No additives, no magnesium stearate, no titanium dioxide, no nanoparticles. We avoid unnecessary ingredients in our formulas, including fillers, carriers, dyes, preservatives, coating agents and mould release agents. There are no unnecessary additives, our ingredient lists are comprehensive and transparent.

Prioritising effectiveness

The ingredients used in our food supplements have been selected for their recognisable properties and concentration of active ingredients. We use optimum doses for safe and effective use. We favour active ingredients with high bioavailability (which indicates the proportion of active compounds available to produce noticeable reactions) for an effective dose. We also choose natural and certified organic ingredients as much as possible.

Controlled sourcing and traceability

All our superfoods and their suppliers are rigorously selected for their quality and the traceability of their products, respecting the active plant ingredients. These products are controlled according to strict specifications to ensure their microbiological purity and the absence of contaminants (e.g. heavy metals, pesticides).

Manufactured in a specialised HACCP- and ISO 22000-certified laboratory

Our food supplements are manufactured in an expert laboratory with HACCP and ISO 22000 certification, the highest quality system certification for food supplements. Each batch is checked against strict specifications and receives microbiological analyses before release.

Capsules of plant origin

The capsules are made out of 100% HPMC, which does not contain colouring agents or gelatine. Derived from plant cellulose, HPMC (hypromellose or hydroxypropylmethylcellulose), this allows our food supplement capsules to be certified organic. This type of capsule protects the active ingredients from air and humidity exposure, guaranteeing the long-term stability of our food supplements. Pure and free from controversial additives, these capsules have been used for a long time and are proven to be safe.

Packaged in glass jars with metal lids

We use the minimum packaging required, and all of it is recyclable. Dispose of in the appropriate recycling sorting bins.

Frequently asked questions

Does astaxanthin colour the skin?

No, taking astaxanthin as a food supplement does not cause the skin to turn orange, unlike other carotenoids.

When should I take Organic Astaxanthin food supplement?

You can take your Organic Astaxanthin capsules at any time of day. But for best absorption, we advise taking this food supplement with a meal, preferably one containing fat, as fat helps the body to absorb astaxanthin.

How much astaxanthin should I take?

The recommended dose is one capsule of our Organic Astaxanthin food supplement per day, i.e. 80mg of oleoresin extracted from Haematococcus pluvialis algae, corresponding to 8mg of astaxanthin per day. The efficacy of astaxanthin has been demonstrated in numerous clinical studies on doses ranging from 2 to 16mg per day. An 8mg per day is considered to be potent, optimal and safe for most people. European Regulation 2017/2470 authorises the use of oleoresin extracted from the alga Haematococcus pluvialis as a 'novel food' in food supplements (excluding children and teenagers under the age of 14) at a dose of 40 to 80mg of oleoresin per day, equivalent to a maximum of 8mg of astaxanthin per day.

How long does a a course of astaxanthin last?

Astaxanthin is generally taken in 1 to 3-month courses. A pot of 30 capsules corresponds to a 1-month course.

Can astaxanthin be taken during pregnancy?

No, astaxanthin food supplements should not be taken during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

At what age can astaxanthin be taken?

Astaxanthin should not be consumed by children or teenagers under the age of 14. Our Organic Astaxanthin food supplement is suitable for adults aged 18 and over only.

Can astaxanthin interact with medicines?

If you are taking medication at the same time as food supplements, we recommend that you always ask your doctor for advice.

Can I take urucum at the same time as astaxanthin?

Yes, you can combine urucum (which prepares your skin for sun exposure) with a course of astaxanthin (which combats oxidative damage from sun exposure). These 2 products contain different carotenoids, which can be combined, as long as you don't exceed the maximum dose of 1 capsule of astaxanthin per day and the recommended dose of urucum, which is generally around 1 to 2g maximum per day for raw urucum powder. For concentrated extracts of urucum, refer to the dosage recommended by the manufacturer.

Can astaxanthin be combined with other food supplements?

There are no known risks to taking our Organic Astaxanthin with our other food supplements. However, to avoid an overdose of astaxanthin, don't combine it with other astaxanthin-based products. You can identify it in the ingredient lists by its Latin name, Haematococcus pluvialis. Note, this ingredient is often used in sun or vision supplements.

Should smokers avoid astaxanthin?

No, unlike beta-carotene-based dietary supplements, which are not recommended for smokers, astaxanthin has no such risks.

Can I open the astaxanthin capsule and eat it with food?

No, taking the supplement in this way is not suitable for these capsules.
