Wild Patchouli Hydrosol

A plant native to Indonesia and Malaysia, patchouli is widely used in perfumery and is now considered a precious, luxurious ingredient. The fresh plant itself has no scent, and it is only after a fermentation phase that the precursors of its aromatic molecules, such as patchoulol, develop and give the leaves their distinctive fragrance, later used to produce essential oil or absolute.

Patchouli has a powerful, woody, earthy and dry fragrance with smoky, camphorous and liquorice notes.

In Asia, it was traditionally used for its anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and aphrodisiac properties. Often associated with the hippie movement of the 1970s, patchouli is reputed to stimulate the desire for freedom and self-expression.

The dried leaves are also used to repel moths and other insects.

Originating from an unspoilt region of India

Our hydrosol is hand-crafted. The leaves and flowering tops of the patchouli plant are foraged in the wild from unspoilt areas of India.

These leaves are then distilled by a young couple of producer-distillers from the Gard region of France who are passionate about aromatic plants and take great pride in their work.

A traditional method of production

This rare hydrosol is made using 1 kilo of leaves and flowering tops to obtain 1 litre of hydrosol. This is known as the 1:1 extraction ratio, which guarantees an intense scent, better conservation and, above all, a high concentration of active aromatic molecules in the hydrosol, a proof of its quality. This hydrosol is then microfiltered to 0.2 microns for optimum hygiene and microbiological compliance. Our hydrosol is therefore exceptional quality, 100% pure and natural, with no added preservatives, in a fresh, concentrated form. Exceptional olfactory and cosmetic properties
