The formula of our Grapefruit Seed Extract has changed; it is now even more concentrated and water-based rather than glycerin-based, which makes the extract more fluid and therefore easier to dispense. All sizes are now available in the new quality.

Produced from citrus seeds through fermentation processes with the addition of organic acids (lactic, citric and ascorbic acids).

A broad-spectrum antibacterial and antifungal preservative, it ensures the preservation of cosmetic preparations containing an aqueous phase (water, hydrosol).

To ensure the preservation of your homemade cosmetics, we have selected an extremely concentrated quality, far more concentrated than dietary grapefruit extracts.
Its bactericidal effectiveness was validated through a challenge test. Challenge test: exposure of a cosmetic formula to bacterial contamination in order to test and validate the preservative system.
Tested formula:
Aqueous phase: tap water (30 g); non-preserved organic witch hazel hydrosol (30 g)
Oil phase: organic hazelnut vegetable oil (35 g), emulsifying wax No. 1 (5 g)
Preservative: Aroma-Zone Grapefruit Seed Extract (0.5 g, i.e. 0.5%)

Add the Grapefruit Seed Extract to the finished formula when cold and mix well to homogenise.
Influence on the pH of aqueous preparations: This new quality tends to acidify preparations. It is essential to check the pH of your preparations at the end of the formulation and, if necessary, increase it by adding a little baking soda.
Aroma-Zone tips
Grapefruit Seed Extract is a 100% natural preservative used for relatively short-term preservation. We recommend keeping your preparations for a maximum of one month with this extract.
We recommend avoiding its use in microbiologically sensitive preparations , such as those containing fruit powders, plants, milk, etc., or cold emulsions.
This preservative has good antibacterial efficacy but is less effective on yeast and mould. To boost its antifungal effect, we recommend combining it with 0.5% Benzoate & Sorbate Complex or 0.3% Palmarosa essential oil.
Preservation
Store at room temperature away from moisture and light. Close the bottle tightly after use.

Keep out of reach of children.
Do not swallow, avoid contact with eyes, do not apply undiluted to skin.
Follow the recommended dosages.
Always perform an allergy test on the inside of your arm (test the finished product or the preservative diluted to 1%), waiting at least 24 hours (ideally 48 hours) to observe any possible reaction.
Always check the pH of the products at the end of the formulation and, if necessary, adjust it with baking soda.

EO = Essential Oil VO = Vegetable Oil or Oily Macerate
For a 100 ml spray bottle:
100 ml of Verbena hydrosol
30 drops of Exotic Verbena Essential Oil (Litsea cubeba)
120 drops of Solubol
20 drops of Grapefruit Seed Extract
7 drops of Vitamin E
Method: Pour the hydrosol into the bottle. In a bowl, mix the essential oil and Solubol. Pour into the bottle. Add the Grapefruit Seed Extract and Vitamin E. Shake the bottle vigorously to mix evenly.
Use: Shake the bottle before each use, then apply to the body. Store in a cool place to enhance the product's refreshing effect.
2 tablespoons of Shea Butter
1 tablespoon of Argan Oil
1 tablespoon Avocado Oil
3 teaspoons of Rose Hydrosol
1 teaspoon of Vegetable Glycerin
1 teaspoon honey and royal jelly mixture (10% fresh royal jelly and 90% honey)
10 drops of Geranium Essential Oil
6 drops of Grapefruit Seed Extract
2 drops of natural Vitamin E
Use: Mix the vegetable oils and butter until you obtain a smooth mixture. Gradually add the hydrosol while emulsifying. Add the vegetable glycerin, then the rest of the ingredients.
25 ml (5 teaspoons) of red clay
10 ml (2 teaspoons) of Vegetable Glycerin
15 ml (3 teaspoons) of Lavender hydrosol
5 drops of Tea Tree Essential Oil
5 drops of Lemon Essential Oil
5 drops of Grapefruit Seed Extract
Method: Mix all the ingredients with a wooden or plastic spoon (do not use metal as this will alter the properties of the clay).
Use: Apply once or twice a week, leave on for 15 to 20 minutes, then rinse with warm water.
20 ml of Jojoba Oil
4 g of beeswax
10 ml of Witch Hazel Hydrosol
3 drops of Rosemary Verbenone essential oil
3 drops of Tea Tree Essential Oil
3 drops of Grapefruit Seed Extract
Method: Melt the wax in the vegetable oil in a double boiler. When the wax has melted, remove from the heat and gradually add the hydrosol in small amounts, whisking until the mixture cools. Add the remaining ingredients while continuing to whisk. Leave to set for 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
