Ayurveda, or Ayurvedic medicine, is a comprehensive sacred therapeutic science that has been used in India for over 5,000 years. It is also a philosophy and a way of life. In Sanskrit, 'ayur' means 'life' and 'veda' means 'science or knowledge' . Discovered by the Rishis or great sages of the Himalayas through observation of nature and the 5 elements (Water, Earth, Fire, Air, Space or Ether), it is based on the concept of the 3 doshas**(Vâta, Pitta and Kapha**), each made up of 2 elements.
Each individual is born with their own proportion of each dosha, and one or two doshas are typically dominant. Theaim of Ayurveda is to live in harmony with your basic constitution, to know what will help you to stay healthy, happy and have beautiful skin, but also to learn to identify anything that makes you ill or unhappy. To ensure that your constitution is balanced, you need to choose activities, foods and plants that have the opposite of the characteristics of your dominant doshas and therefore soothe these dominant doshas.
Tulsi is Sanskrit for holy basil, originally from India, and belongs to the Lamiaceae family. It was traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine for its purifying, detoxifying, and soothing properties. Its calming, relaxing properties make it useful for soothing distress, low spirits andmental exhaustion, sometimes accompanied by shivering and trembling. Its invigorating effects help the heart and mind to open up, while improving memory and concentration. Used externally, it is traditionally applied in India to protect against mosquito bites, and soothes hives and itching. As a cosmetic ingredient, it also helps combat dandruff and cleanses the skin while purifying and leaving a matte finish.

Frequently Asked Questions
Great
Excellent!
My go-to. It almost instantly stops my sporadic hair loss. Use it as a mask with fenugreek powder to improve the mask's texture, in a 3/1 ratio. Add a few drops of other oils and essential oils, and it's great for certain hair types. Leave it on for at least 1/2 hour. Then shampoo as usual.
On the advice of my naturopathic doctor. 3 "teas" per day other ingredients (synergy) versus muscle tension.
Excellent for my hair! I love it. It has become a staple in my hair routine.
