This very precious and rare oil should not be confused with Prickly Pear Macerate, which is less expensive but also less active. True Prickly Pear Oil is obtained exclusively by cold-pressing the tiny seeds of Opuntia Ficus Indica, of a cactus that grows abundantly around the Mediterranean basin. With an extraction yield of only about 5%, the seeds contain very little oil, which explains both its rarity and its exceptional value.
This precious oil has astonishing regenerating and anti-dehydration qualities for the skin, widely used by Tunisian ancestors to reduce scarring. It is exceptionally rich in Vitamin E (around 1000 mg/kg) and sterols (around 10 g/kg), which help to protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals. It also contains large quantities of essential fatty acids, including linoleic acid (omega-6), and is an excellent skin softening and repairing agent. This oil is therefore an exceptional ally in the fight against the signs of skin ageing.
Premium product
Aroma-Zone strives to offer products of the highest possible quality, in terms of their composition, their richness in active ingredients, their scent, how they are grown, their geographical origin , how they are obtained, the quality of the producer's work, and also in terms of their ethics as part of a sustainable development approach. We seek out rare and sometimes even exclusive product qualities by contacting suppliers in the four corners of the world and buying directly from the producers, always ensuring favourable financial terms for our partners.
In order to highlight some of our exceptionally high quality products and share as much information as possible about them with you, we have decided to create an "exceptional product" label.
We offer an organic prickly pear oil, pressed according to the rules of the art in Tunisia and bought directly from the producer, which helps to support the local community, making it one of our exceptional products.
An ancestral culture in the centre of Tunisia
Produced using an ancestral and organic method of growing, the prickly pears used come from a small rural village in the governorate of Kairouan, a poor region in central Tunisia.
Traditionally produced oil for fair trade
We buy this oil directly from an artisanal oil producer in Tunisia, who is passionate about his work and has many projects. The figs are harvested, washed and peeled by hand by the inhabitants of this small rural village.
An oil exceptionally rich in antioxidants
With its exceptional vitamin E (around 1000 mg/kg) and sterol (around 10 g/kg) content, this oil has unusual antioxidant properties. This rare and precious oil is therefore an ingredient of choice for making cosmetic preparations to combat the signs of skin ageing. Its high essential fatty acids content (particularly omega-6) also gives it very interesting softening and regenerating properties , making it particularly suitable for dry, dehydrated skin.
