We are pleased to offer a rare organic Desert date carrier oil withexceptional properties due to its richness in active compounds and processed locally in Burkina Faso, making it an exceptional product.
A tree from semi-arid regions on the Sahel border
The Desert date tree grows on the edge of the Sahel desert. The oil we offer comes from a value chain involving the seeds of these trees in Burkina Faso.
To collect the ripe fruit, the association calls on the most remote populations in the heart of the natural habitats of the Desert date trees.
A traditional cold-pressing extraction method Processingis carried outin Burkina Faso by women, who depulp the seeds by rubbing them in water. The pulp is used as animal feed.
Theseeds aresun-dried, then sorted by hand. Recently, the association has also developed local oil production by equipping itself with a press and training local workers to obtain high-quality oil extracted by cold pressing.
Fair trade
When families have collected enough to fill a lorry, local coordinators, trained by the association, organise the collection of the bags.
Each bag is weighed and paid to the family. A green oasis and a source of life in this arid and impoverished region, the Desert date tree provides jobs and income to local communities. .
Sustainable development
The association is also developing Desert date tree nurseries to replant trees as a barrier against desertification and to compensate for the removal of seeds from their natural environment.
Locals are trained to manage these nurseries in accordance with the principles of Organic Farming. Two of these nurseries are associated with schools and also serve an educational purpose.
An oil with rare properties
Known for its emollient, regenerating and nourishing properties, Desert date oil can used as an ingredient in your blends to create softening and restorative treatments for dry skin prone to discomfort, as well as dry, brittle hair.
Its highly penetrating touch is greatly appreciated, making it an ideal oil for creating protective treatments for combination skin without causing greasiness.
