Camelina is a plant from the Cruciferae family, better known as "false flax" .

Cultivated extensively in France in Greek and Roman times, camelina became less popular in the Middle Ages , before disappearing almost completely in the last century.

The new interest in camelina stems from nutritional studies carried out on humans, showing the need to rebalance fatty acid intakes, particularly through an intake of omega-3 fatty acids.

Camelina botanical oil has been authorised as a foodstuff in France since 1999. It is considered a very beneficial dietary oil thanks to its balanced omega-3 and 6 content. These essential fatty acids are reputed to contribute to the proper functioning of the brain and cardiovascular system.

In cosmetics, camelina carrier oil is now a key ingredient in anti-ageing skin care products, as well as soothing and restorative products for sensitive and atopic skin.

Sometimes called "German sesame" or "false flax", camelina carrier oil has been known and cultivated for food use for a very long time.

Although it was all but forgotten towards the end of the 19th century, it is now enjoying a new lease of life, thanks mostly to its high, balanced levels of essential fatty acids. A hardy plant, camelina is an agronomic heavy hitter, being both resistant to pests and suited to the European climate. Often combined with other crops, it also covers the soil densely as a green manure, preventing weeds spreading.

Produced by French organic farmers, our organic camelina oil has been pressed using traditional methods and expertise. It is 100% pure and natural virgin oil from the first cold pressing and is chemically untreated.

A well-balanced composition for health and cosmetic use

Both softening and soothing, it is recommended for sensitive, dry and flaky skin. Rich in essential fatty acids and vitamin E, it is also widely used for anti-ageing skin products.
