How can you achieve beautiful hair naturally?
There’s no single secret to beautiful hair. However, a few simple steps, combined with a healthy lifestyle, can help protect your hair fibres in the long term.
Step 1: Identify your hair type
It all starts with choosing haircare products suited to your needs. Fine, curly, dry, oily or coloured hair all have different requirements. Using products suited to your hair type helps to maintain its balance and address its specific needs more effectively.
Step 2: Adopt the right daily habits
Opt for a soft brush to minimise breakage and static, then clean your styling tools regularly to remove product build-up. After shampooing, rinsing with apple cider vinegar or flower vinegar helps remove limescale, smooth the cuticle scales and restore your hair’s shine.
Step 3: Nourish your hair regularly
Once a week, apply an oil treatment before shampooing to nourish the scalp and the lengths of your hair. Depending on your needs, you might want to opt for mustard oil (to be diluted) or rocket oil to help revitalise your hair.
Step 4: Protect your hair overnight
Friction against the pillow can weaken the hair fibre over time. A silk or satin pillowcase reduces this friction. You can also tie your hair into a protective style, such as a loose plait, before going to bed. Also remember to avoid going to bed with wet hair, as the hair shaft is more fragile when saturated with water and breaks more easily due to friction.
Step 5: Look after your hair from the inside
The beauty of your hair also depends on your diet. To have beautiful hair, ensure you meet your requirements for protein, iron, zinc and sulphur compounds, which are essential for the synthesis of keratin, the main protein that makes up the hair shaft. In addition to a varied and balanced diet, brewer’s yeast, nettle powder and biotin (vitamin B8) are traditionally used to promote the beauty and vitality of the hair.
