You’ve all heard of Botox injections, but more recently, “notox” serums and skincare products have emerged. What exactly are they? Is this an effective natural alternative to consider if you’re not interested in invasive procedures? Let’s take a closer look at these notox serums, their effects, and the results you can expect.

What is the notox effect?

Botox (through botulinum toxin injections) works by limiting the contractions of the facial muscles responsible for the appearance of certain wrinkles, known as expression lines: particularly those on the forehead, crow’s feet (around the eyes), the glabellar lines (between the eyebrows), and the nasolabial folds (separating the nose/mouth from the cheeks).

However, this comes at the cost of injections, which can be expensive, and above all, are invasive and need to be repeated on average every six months.

In contrast, Notox aims to achieve similar results—specifically by relaxing the muscles—but through the application of topical products as part of a beauty routine. These topical products combine anti-ageing properties to smooth or even “fill in” fine lines and wrinkles, while also firming, plumping and rehydrating the skin.

What are notox active ingredients?

Notox active ingredients have powerful anti-ageing properties. The most common and well-known are:

  • Those with a muscle-relaxing effect: such as argireline (acetyl hexapeptide-8, though its effectiveness remains controversial) or spilanthes, which have muscle-relaxing properties, thereby smoothing out expression lines.

  • Those with a stimulating effect on collagen and elastin: wakame seaweed extract (rich in fucoxanthin), which inhibits the breakdown of hyaluronic acid and has a powerful antioxidant effect, or cacay oil, rich in photoretinol, which boosts the production of collagen and elastin.

What are the benefits of notox active ingredients?

  • Reducing facial muscle contractions responsible for expression lines,

  • Restore the skin barrier, which can be compromised by age and external aggressors,

  • Increase skin elasticity and firmness,

  • Plump and rehydrate dry or dehydrated skin,

  • Restore radiance and even out the complexion.

Results? The skin appears fresher, smoother, more relaxed, and plumped. A true rejuvenating and comforting boost!

Expert advice

When applying your notox serum, take the opportunity to massage your face, and why not apply a little coolness to your face (a cotton pad placed in the refrigerator, soaked in thermal water or Damask rose) to improve facial blood circulation and drain lymph or edema.
