Properties
As a cosmetic ingredient, organic cucumber extract is recognised for the following properties:
An excellent moisturiser (for the upper layers of the epidermis), it is an active ingredient of choice for everyday skincare.
Cucumber has a brightening effect and contains enzymes that are known to inhibit the production of melanin, which causes skin discolouration. Cucumber is therefore a very beneficial plant for ensuring a beautiful, healthy complexion.
Regenerating, it contains vitamins that are known to contribute to cell renewal while providing protection against the effects of time.
Purifying and astringent, it is known to unclog enlarged pores and regulate excess sebum.
It has softening properties, bringing suppleness and comfort to sensitive and fragile skin.
Refreshing, it reduces the sensation of "heat stroke" following sunburn and soothes skin prone to itching.

To make aqueous preparations with 5% Organic Cucumber Extract
Organic Cucumber Extract can easily be incorporated at 5% as an active ingredient in all your water-based formulas: creams, milks, gels, lotions, etc.
Incorporate the extract into all your water-based formulas
Step 1
Incorporate the Organic Cucumber Extract cold, at the end of the formulation.
Step 2
Shake well to mix thoroughly.
For making gels (up to 50% Organic Cucumber Extract)
Organic Cucumber Extract can easily be used at up to 50% to make concentrated gels.
Making gels with Organic Cucumber Extract
Step 1
Transfer the required amount of Organic Cucumber Extract into a bowl containing your water-based preparation, then mix using a mini whisk.
Step 2
Add the gelling agent to your mixture while stirring with the mini whisk.
Step 3
Leave the mixture to rest for about 10 minutes (the gel will form).
Step 4
Mix vigorously again to obtain a smooth, even gel.
To make emulsions containing between 5 and 30% Organic Cucumber Extract
Formulating emulsions with Organic Cucumber Extract requires special care. Organic Cucumber Extract tends to destabilise emulsions at high concentrations. To make your emulsion, incorporate it into your aqueous phase and use the highest dosage of emulsifier.
In formulas with a high concentration of organic cucumber extract (>40%), do not use the Benzoate & Sorbate Complex preservative to avoid overdosing on sodium benzoate.

Method of production
This hydroglycerin extract is obtained by macerating fresh organic cucumber in a natural water/glycerin mixture.
Most of the active ingredients in cucumber are soluble in water. So, by macerating cucumber in a water/glycerin mixture, the active ingredients easily dissolve in the extraction liquid. After filtration, you get a water/glycerin mixture loaded with the plant's active ingredients.

From the same family as melon and zucchini, cucumber is native to the Himalayas. It became known in France thanks to Charlemagne, who ordered it to be grown on his lands. In 1653, the herbalist Culpeper was already aware of the purifying and refreshing properties of this fruit vegetable, noting in his notebooks that "it is excellent for sunburn, freckles, and flaking skin."
In fact, in the 18th century, noblewomen made beauty masks from cucumber seeds to brighten their complexion.
