Natural DHA Active Ingredient
10 g
100% natural origin
Why we love it
Your natural ally for a sun-kissed complexion all year round
Adds colour to the upper layers of the skin without the need for sun exposure
Use as an ingredient in your cosmetic preparations:
Self-tanning products
Daily care products with a "healthy glow" effect
Further explanation
To obtain a perfectly even tan, we recommend exfoliating the skin before application.
DHA does not involve the melanogenesis process responsible for natural tanning during UV exposure. The "tan" obtained with DHA therefore has no protective effect during exposure to the sun.
Properties
As a cosmetic ingredient, natural dha cosmetic active ingredient is recognised for its properties:
Self-tanning: gives the skin a tanned complexion after just a few hours, without exposure to the sun.
Skin colouring is water-resistant.
The colour appears after about 2 hours and can intensify for a further 24 hours.
On fair skins, the intensity of the colouring is proportional to the number of applications.
The intensity of the tan can be maintained with regular applications.
Only the upper horny layer of the skin is coloured.
Dosage
1 to 8% 1 to 3% for a "healthy glow" effect 3 to 8% for a self-tanning effect
Water-soluble
recommended ph
4.5-6 DHA acidifies creams. The final pH of the cream will generally be correct without adjustment.
Oil-insoluble

Integrate DHA as an ingredient in one of the Neutral AZ Bases listed above to make an emulsion
Step 1
Pour your product into a cosmetic preparation bowl or other suitable container.
Step 2
Add the desired quantity of Natural DHA (see table of typical dosages above and within the limit of the maximum percentage of 8% for incorporating into AZ's Neutral Base).
Step 3
Shake well to mix well.
Step 4
Pour the product into its container, using a pipette if necessary.

Step 2
Shake well to mix well.
Aroma-Zone Tip
DHA can interact with certain cosmetic active ingredients (in particular, avoid proteins, urea, plant collagen, fruit acids and zinc oxide) and with certain fragrances. So reduce the number of active ingredients in your DHA creams.
If DHA interacts with a component in your mixture, this poses no risk to your skin but will simply reduce the effectiveness of the DHA as it will have partially reacted.
DHA is more stable at an acid pH (4.5-6), and will naturally tend to acidify the product to reach this pH range. We advise against adding an alkaline pH adjuster to raise the pH above 6, as the DHA will then be unstable and its effectiveness will be greatly reduced.

DHA reacts with amines, peptides and amino acids in the upper layer of the epidermis to form brown compounds, which are responsible for the colouration observed. This is the same type of reaction between reducing sugars and proteins as the 'Maillard reactions' responsible for the browning or 'caramelisation' of foods during cooking. This mechanism is completely different from the natural tanning mechanism (production of melanin) and the 'tan' obtained with DHA will not protect the skin from the sun.
DHA only interacts with the stratum corneum, the outermost part of the epidermis. This layer is eliminated naturally as the skin is constantly renewing itself, and the outermost, 'dead' layer is eliminated by desquamation. As DHA remains in the stratum corneum and does not penetrate the deeper layers of the skin, it has no harmful effect on the skin.Long-term use of DHA is therefore risk-free.
Storage
Close the container tightly after each use. Keep away from air and moisture, and store in the refrigerator out of the reach of children. DHA is sensitive to heat.
Precautions
Keep out of reach of children.
Do not swallow, inhale or get in eyes.
Follow recommended dosages.
DHA and products containing DHA may stain hands and skin: handle preferably with gloves and wash hands thoroughly after applying a product containing DHA.
DHA-based self-tanning products should be applied as evenly as possible, making sure the product is well absorbed, in order to achieve an even shade. Exfoliating from time to time will help to achieve a more even tan.

Frequently Asked Questions
I add it to my daily body cream and it gives me a nice tanned complexion all year round, with a natural and even result.
If dosed correctly and applied precisely and uniformly, it has excellent results
Not used yet.
Better than commercial self-tanners, it allows you to apply the desired amount yourself, fewer chemical components, I approve :)
Some spots on the hair and if poorly dosed it really dyes orange, otherwise a great product
