Also known as panthenol, provitamin B5 is the most widely used vitamin in the cosmetics industry, as it is essential for the beauty of skin and hair. Once in the body, provitamin B5 is rapidly converted into vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid), a major component of coenzyme A, which plays a key role in the cell and tissue repair mechanism. This vitamin plays an active role in the formation and regeneration of skin and hair. A vitamin B5 deficiency can lead to hair loss.
