Properties

Eastern red cedar essential oil is recognised for its health properties:

  • Venous decongestant, stimulates blood circulation.

  • Lymphatic decongestant, facilitates lymphatic drainage.

  • Rich in anti-inflammatory active ingredients

Uses

It is traditionally used to improve the following conditions:

  • Varicose veins, haemorrhoids

  • Heavy legs, pelvic congestion, leg swelling

  • Hydrolipid retention, cellulite, obesity

  • Arterial problems, nervous tension

In practice

Light legs, toning: Mix with your oil blend. Apply your mixture locally by massaging or rubbing all over the body.

Slimming effect: Mix into your dispersible bath preparation. Pour your blend into the warm bath water. Breathe and relax.

Note: This essential oil may crystallise at room temperature. If this happens, simply warm the bottle in your hands or under a stream of lukewarm water.

Precautions

  • Keep out of reach of children - Avoid contact with eyes.

  • Do not use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding, or on children under 6 years of age.

  • Possible oestrogen-like effect, not recommended in cases of mastosis or hormone-dependent cancer (breast, ovary, endometrium).

  • As a general rule, always test your mixture in the crease of the elbow at least 48 hours before use.

Eastern red cedar, also known as Virginia Juniper, is also called Red Cedar because of the colour of its wood. Native to the United States, this small conifer belonging to the Cupressaceae family grows in the eastern regions ofNorth America, but can also be found in south-west France. This tree provides shelter and food for a butterfly that is rare in Canada, the Juniper Hairstreak.

1 full teaspoon = between 3 and 4.5 ml

1 full tablespoon = between 7.5 and 10 ml


However, these spoon ratios depend on a number of factors (e.g. viscosity of the liquid, temperature, depth and size of the spoon, rheological behaviour of the liquid), and we strongly advise you to use precise measuring equipment, such as graduated test tubes, graduated pipettes, and precision scales.
