Interview with Dr Dima Haidar
Member of our Aroma-Zone College of Dermatologists
Our College of DermatologistsDr Dima Haidar is a dermatologist in private practice in Paris. We are honoured to welcome her to our College of Dermatologists.
I have a fairly wide-ranging practice: medical, cosmetic and surgical, with my areas of specialisation being: the treatment of acne, skin cancer screening, cosmetic dermatology and skin surgery. Alongside my clinical practice, I am deeply committed to providing information and promoting prevention amongst the general public – essential aspects to help everyone better understand and protect their skin on a daily basis, whilst also ensuring they do not fall into the trap of misinformation.
What I particularly love is the very multidimensional nature of dermatology. There is a continuity between medical, surgical and aesthetic aspects, which allows for a holistic and personalised approach to patient care. It is a very rich, intellectually stimulating speciality, and most of all, it's never monotonous. It is also an extremely visual discipline: improving the condition of the skin often has a direct impact on self-image, self-confidence and quality of life. Seeing these positive changes in patients gives meaning to my day-to-day practice.
This is a brand with a natural approach, committed to a holistic concept of respect – for the individual, the environment and ethical principles – through transparent and responsible choices.
My approach aims to develop a more natural and simple approach to cosmetics, whilst remaining effective and tailored to individual needs, with particular attention paid to the composition, origin and traceability of products, in line with strong ethical principles.
It’s hard to pick just one! When it comes to the skin, two simple steps are essential for maintaining healthy skin: sun protection and proper moisturising. The sun remains one of the main causes of ageing and skin damage, while appropriate moisturising helps to strengthen the skin’s barrier. These two steps alone can limit much of the damage to the skin and slow down the ageing process. But before thinking about skincare products, the most important rule is still a healthy lifestyle! Eat a balanced diet, get enough sleep and manage your stress.
Retinoids and AHAs (fruit acids) are the ones I recommend most regularly. Retinoids stimulate cell renewal, whilst AHAs provide gentle exfoliation. I particularly appreciate them for their multiple benefits: they improve the complexion, texture and overall condition of the skin. However, please note that they are not suitable for everyone and must be used appropriately, depending on skin type and sensitivity.
