Also known as “fractionated coconut oil”, these plant derived triglycerides obtained from coconut oil form a lightweight, non greasy oil base that absorbs instantly, softening the skin without leaving an oily film. A dry oil, Caprylis is ideal for formulating treatment oils as well as milks and creams. Highly stable to oxidation, it is also an excellent base for preparing oil macerates.

Fatty acid triglycerides are the main components of vegetable oils. Each vegetable oil is a unique blend of triglycerides from different fatty acids.

The feel of a vegetable oil and its properties are largely determined by the proportion and type of different fatty acids it contains, including: saturated/monounsaturated/polyunsaturated fatty acids, short/medium/long chain fatty acids, etc.

The sensitivity of an oil to oxidation depends mainly on the degree of unsaturation of the fatty acids it contains.

On average, coconut oil has the following fatty acid composition:

Long-chain saturated fatty acids : lauric 44-51%, myristic 13-18%, palmitic 8-10%, stearic 1-3%: these fatty acids give coconut oil its "solid" consistency and its very rich, nourishing, and film-forming texture.

Medium-chain saturated fatty acids: caprylic 6-9%, capric 6-10%: these fatty acids are very stable against oxidation (because they are saturated) and form a fine, fluid and highly penetrating oily fraction due to their small size. Caprylis is composed of the triglycerides of these fatty acids.

Unsaturated fatty acids: oleic 5.5-7.5%, linoleic < 2.5%.

The emollient Caprylis is composed of triglycerides of capric and caprylic acids. It therefore corresponds to the lightest and most penetrating fraction of coconut oil, hence its common name of fractionated coconut oil.

Store at room temperature away from moisture and light. Close the bottle tightly after use.
