Essential oil of Atlas Cedar

Atlas Cedar essential oil is best known for its tonic, soothing and lipolytic properties. Purifying, it also helps to clear the respiratory tract. Its fine, woody fragrance is also an invitation to meditation. In psycho-energetic olfactotherapy, Atlas Cedar essential oil is used to stimulate the strength and courage characteristic of this king of the forest. It is also highly recommended for helping to free oneself from drug addiction.

Rich in sesquiterpenes, Atlas Cedar essential oil is traditionally used for its healing properties, particularly in cases of psoriasis, eczema and dermatitis. Its atlantone content helps to clear the respiratory tract in cases of mucus congestion, as well as having lipolytic and healing effects. Atlas Cedar essential oil is also one of the best known for getting rid of moths.

For health, Atlas Cedar essential oil is recognised for the following properties:

Uses

Atlas Cedar essential oil is traditionally used to improve the following conditions:

  • Fungal or parasitic skin diseases

  • Eczema, psoriasis

  • Coughs, colds, hay fever

  • Joint pain, rheumatism

Synergies

  • Respiratory health: Eucalyptus smithii, Ravintsara essential oils

  • Light legs: Mastic Tree, Mediterranean Cypress essential oils

  • Joint health: Lemon Eucalyptus, Katafray, Sweet Wintergreen essential oils

In practice

Light legs: Mix with your oil preparation. Massage the affected area vigorously with your mixture.

Breathing: Air diffusion, alone or in synergy with other essential oils (Scots Pine, Eucalyptus, Silver Fir, Lemon, etc.).

Precautions

  • For internal use by therapists only.

  • Do not use during pregnancy or when breast-feeding, or in children, those with epilepsy or the very elderly. This essential oil contains ketones, compounds which may present neurotoxic and abortifacient risks in high doses.

  • High doses may cause skin irritation. Always dilute well.

  • Keep out of reach of children

  • As a general rule, always test-apply your mixture in the crease of the elbow at least 48 hours before use.

  • For use as a cosmetic ingredient, please refer to the specific precautions.

  • Dangerous. Follow the precautions for use.

  • Danger. May cause skin allergies. May be fatal if swallowed and enters the respiratory tract (if accidentally swallowed, do not induce vomiting). Toxic to aquatic organisms, causing long-term adverse effects (in the event of massive spillage of the product into a watercourse).

The thousand-year-old cedar forests, which reach heights of between 1200 and 2000 m in the Middle Atlas region of Morocco, regulate the climate and water cycles while releasing their powerful, woody fragrance. The Egyptians put their essence to many uses: embalming the dead, perfumes, cosmetics, etc.

However, these spoon ratios depend on a number of factors (e.g. viscosity of the liquid, temperature, depth and size of the spoon, rheological behaviour of the liquid), and we strongly advise you to use precise measuring equipment, such as graduated test tubes, graduated pipettes, and precision scales.

  • Rosmarinus officinalis CT verbenone essential oil (rosemary verbenone): 1 ml

  • Aniba rosaeodora essential oil (rosewood): 1 ml

Use: Apply with light massages morning and evening, just after cleansing.

Use: Wash your hair normally, as usual, with your "anti-dandruff" shampoo! Massage into the scalp using your fingers and leave on for 2 minutes before rinsing.

Anti-dandruff hair mask (C. Clergeaud)

  • 2 tablespoons of Rhassoul

  • Rosemary verbenone hydrosol

  • 10 drops of Cedar essential oil

Directions: Mix the Rhassoul with the essential oil, then add the hydrosol until you reach the desired consistency.

Use: Apply and leave on for 10 to 20 minutes before rinsing thoroughly.

Hair loss treatment oil (C. Clergeaud)

Depending on the length of your hair, this mixture will give you 4 to 8 applications.

  • Argan oil: 50 ml

  • Castor oil: 150 ml

  • Ylang-Ylang essential oil: 30 drops

  • Cedarwood essential oil: 30 drops

How to use: Mix the ingredients. Wet the hair. Massage the treatment oil into the hair and scalp. Wrap hair in a warm damp towel and leave on for at least 30 minutes before shampooing.

Chapped hands oil (M-C. Laparé)

  • True lavender essential oil 20 drops

  • Rose geranium essential oil 20 drops

  • Atlas cedar essential oil 20 drops

  • Palmarosa essential oil 20 drops

  • Rose hip carrier oil 5 ml

  • Sweet almond carrier oil 10 ml

  • Wheatgerm carrier oil 10 ml

Use: Use as a healing agent several times a day. Given the high concentration of essential oils, reduce this course of treatment to one week.

Lice (pediculosis) for adults and children (over 6 years and on medical advice) (D. Baudoux)

  • Lavandula x burnatii super (Lavandin super) essential oil: 3 ml

  • Melaleuca alternifolia (tea tree) essential oil: 3 ml

  • Myrtus communis CT cineole (cineole myrtle) essential oil: 1 ml

Use: in prevention: 3 drops in a small amount of shampoo every other day as a preventative: rub the scalp with 6 to 10 drops of the mixture, avoiding contact with the eyes

Dandruff (T. Telphon)

  • Atlas cedar essential oil: 2 ml

  • Cade juniper essential oil: 2 ml

  • Rosewood essential oil: 2 ml

Directions for use: Add this mixture to a 125 ml bottle of hair lotion recommended by your pharmacist. Shake the bottle and massage gently into the scalp morning and night. Leave on for about half an hour, then rinse.

Mask for oily hair (Naturellement Lyla)

This recipe has purifying properties and helps to absorb excess sebum. Rhassoul is known as a gentle cleanser and degreaser, and Atlas cedar essential oil has a purifying action.

  • Rhassoul: 7 tbsp.

  • Atlas cedar essential oil: 15 drops

  • Water: approx. 15 tbsp.

How to use: Mix the rhassoul and Atlas cedar essential oil in a bowl. Then add the water a little at a time until you obtain a smooth, homogenous paste. Use: Apply this mask to a dry scalp. Massage in and leave for 10 to 20 minutes before rinsing thoroughly and shampooing.

The scalp will be purified from the very first use. Repeat at least twice a month. Your hair will be much less greasy and you'll be able to space out your shampoos.

Do not use Atlas Cedar essential oil on pregnant or breastfeeding women, children or people suffering from epilepsy.
