Resveratrol Active Ingredient

Properties

As a cosmetic ingredient, the active ingredient Resveratrol is recognised for the following properties:

• Anti-oxidant: thanks to its anti-free radical properties, it helps to combat the harmful effects of oxidative stress responsible for premature ageing (linked in particular to the sun, pollution, smoking, etc.).

• Anti-wrinkle: a study shows that Resveratrol has the ability to help reduce the number and depth of wrinkles, through a "retinol-like" action.

• Preventive and anti-ageing: prevents skin ageing and increases cell lifespan, by activating a longevity protein present in skin cells (fibroblasts and keratinocytes).

• Anti-spot and skin-lightening: helps to reduce pigmentation spots and slow down their formation, by reducing the production of melanin.

• Restorative: a study carried out on human keratinocytes shows Resveratrol's ability to stimulate the production of a protein involved in the formation of new blood vessels, VEGF, which plays an important role in the growth of new tissues and organs. Resveratrol is therefore a good stimulant of the repair process.

• Soothing: studies show that Resveratrol is capable of reducing inflammation by reducing the action of an enzyme responsible for the production of prostaglandins, molecules involved in the inflammatory process. This active ingredient will therefore be of interest for sensitive skin or skin prone to discomfort.
