The Piqui is a shrub that can grow up to 10 metres tall and is found in north-east Brazil. It produces a fruit with a thick green skin that encloses a yellow pulp. In the indigenous language, Piqui means "thorny skin", because the fruit is difficult to eat due to the thorns it contains. However, this fruit, well-known and widely used by the local people, is an excellent source of nutrition, often used in regional culinary preparations and homemade liqueurs.
It is a source of lipids for the indigenous populations, and can be used as a butter substitute. Piqui oil is traditionally extracted by handfrom the pulp or seed. In Brazilian folk medicine, it is used to heal wounds and to treat respiratory illnesses such as coughs, bronchitis, and asthma, as well as rheumatic and muscular pain. It is also a common ingredient in medicinal preparations used by farmers to treat pain, bruising and skin peeling in their animals.
In cosmetics, Piqui oil has remarkable properties. According to several studies, Piqui oil has the potential to repair and regenerate skin, and is particularly popular in skincare formulas for sensitive skin prone to irritation. This oil contains zeaxanthin, an antioxidant pigment that filters blue light and neutralises free radicals. This molecule helps to combat the signs of premature ageing and the damage caused by exposure to the sun.
Incorporated into your homemade cosmetics, it is an excellent ingredient for nourishing the skin, softening it, protecting it from external aggressions, and helping it to combat the effects of photoageing.
Piqui oil will captivate you with its sweet and fruity fragrance, making it an exceptional and highly sought-after carrier oil. It is also popular in haircare products, providing <1>softness and nourishment to dry hair or enhancing curls.

Frequently Asked Questions
It stinks
Compact oil, with bits inside.
It's a shame the container is plastic, it unfortunately pollutes the entire oil.
A revolution for curly hair!
A highly concentrated, high-quality product, perfect for curly hair. It has a pleasant exotic fruit scent. The only downside is that it solidifies below 30°C, so I haven't tried using it in a mixture.
