Organic French Roman Chamomile Essential Oil

For this ORGANIC Roman chamomile essential oil, we are working in partnership with a young couple of French farmers who are passionate about plants, and who have recently embarked on an aromatic plant distillation project.

The Roman chamomile is grown in Eyzin-Pinet, Isère, near Vienne, on around 14 hectares of small plots. The camomile plants are planted in rows in April, after being layered and matured for 2–3 months in a nursery. Roman chamomile is a perennial plant, so the plantation will last for 4 to 5 years, and is maintained using mechanical and manual weeding and hoeing.

The plots are naturally pollinated through a partnership with a local beekeeper who has installed their hives at the edge of the plots. The plant must be well watered.

To produce the essential oil, the whole plants are harvested in flower from mid-July to the end of August. To optimise the quality and quantity of essential oil, the plants should be harvested at the hottest times of the day. When harvested, the Roman chamomile is placed directly in a box, which is then immediately transported to our partner's distillery, located in the heart of the Baronnies Provençales Regional Nature Park, which is supplied with high-quality spring water.

The distillation process is carried out in the traditional way, relying on our partner producer's know-how and the specific characteristics associated with the distillation of this fragile flower, to ensure the precious essential oil is of the highest quality, with an intense and distinctive scent with floral, fruity and botanical notes.

Renowned for its powerful calming effects on the nervous system and the psycho-emotional sphere, this exceptional essential oil is also known for its antispasmodic effects and soothing action on the skin.
