Saponification in a cauldron and flake production: France (Marseille)
Storage
This product keeps well over time. Close the bag tightly after use and store away from moisture, heat and light.
Precautions
Keep out of reach of children.
Do not swallow.
Avoid contact with eyes.
We do not recommend using Marseille soap flakes directly in the washing machine, as there is a risk of poor dissolution (especially at low temperatures) or clogging the machine. Instead, use Aleppo soap flakes, which do not form a paste. If not advised against by your machine’s manufacturer, you may use a small handful of Marseille soap flakes per wash, placing them directly in the drum and selecting a programme with a minimum temperature of 60°C.

EO = Essential Oil VO = Vegetable Oil or Oily Macerate
90 g of Marseille soap
2 liters of boiling water
2 tablespoons of baking soda
2 teaspoons white vinegar
1 teaspoon sea salt
Preparation: Grate the Marseille soap into small shavings (Aroma-Zone note: if you are using soap flakes, you can skip this step). Melt it in a double boiler in a large container, adding the water. When the mixture is smooth, add the baking soda and salt. Leave to cool for 24 hours. Add the vinegar, mixing with a hand blender. You will obtain a laundry detergent with a thick gel texture. Use: Use a measuring ball to measure out the amount of detergent. Then wash as usual. To give your laundry a pleasant scent, you can use an essential oil or natural fragrance.
15 g of Marseille soap flakes
80 g of pure water
40 g green clay
1 tsp glycerin
1 tsp sulfated castor oil
1 tbsp baking soda
1 tbsp white vinegar
20 drops lemon essential oil
preservative* (depending on the preservative chosen, refer to the recommended dosage)
Preparation: Melt the soap flakes with the water over low heat. When the mixture is smooth, remove from heat. Add the vinegar, baking soda, and clay, stirring well. Add the essential oil. Pour into a jar and leave the lid slightly open. Leave your paste to dry for at least 6 hours. Use: Take a small amount of paste with a damp sponge. Rub and all stubborn stains will disappear. *Note from Aroma-Zone: This type of recipe, which is a concentrated soap paste, does not normally require a preservative.

Used for several years to make my homemade laundry detergent (recipe on the back), but to prevent it from rinsing poorly at low temperatures, I dilute it again with a little 80°C water before putting it in the detergent drawer.
