Use as the sole emulsifier, at a dosage of 6 to 10%.
In combination with a co-emulsifying texturing agent, such as cetyl alcohol, to thicken and enrich the texture while increasing the stability of the emulsion (especially useful at low dosages of Emulsifying Wax No. 1: 4-6%)
In combination with soy lecithin, for rich but more fluid textures with a soft and silky feel and high emollient properties.
In combination with a gelling agent, such as xanthan gum (0.2-0.5%) in the aqueous phase. It provides a very pleasant glide during application and a fresh feel, and helps stabilize fluid emulsions at low doses of Emulsifying Wax No. 1.
Compatibility with preservatives
Grapefruit Seed Extract | 3/3 |
Naticide | 3/3 |
Cosgard | 3/3 |
Benzoate & Sorbate Complex | 3/3 |
Leucidal | 3/3 |
(*** no effect on stability, ** a decrease in stability has been observed in some cases at low dosages, or temporary destabilization has been noted when adding the preservative, * risk of emulsion destabilization)
To make thick, creamy creams: 10-30% oil phase and 6-10% Emulsifying Wax No. 1
It is also possible to create very rich "water-in-oil" emulsions (with 50% oil) with Emulsifying Wax No. 1 by adding vegetable butter (5%) and vegetable wax (5%) to the oil phase. The emulsion "holds" thanks to the presence of wax and butter.
4-5%
Addition of xanthan gum (0.3%-0.5%) in the aqueous phase is recommended, and/or use of a co-emulsifier (cetyl alcohol, VE emulsifier).
6-7%
Risk of instability: addition of xanthan gum (0.3%-0.5%) in the aqueous phase recommended, and/or use of a co-emulsifier (cetyl alcohol, VE emulsifier).
8-10%
Non-greasy feel, ideal for a moisturizing summer cream.
4-5%
Addition of xanthan gum (0.3%-0.5%) in the aqueous phase is recommended, and/or use of a co-emulsifier (cetyl alcohol, VE emulsifier).
6-7%
Addition of xanthan gum (0.3%-0.5%) in the aqueous phase is recommended, and/or use of a co-emulsifier (cetyl alcohol, VE emulsifier).
8-10%
Soft to the touch, highly emollient.
4-5%
such as soy lecithin, for a very silky and emollient feel.
6-7%
Ideal for nourishing, pampering skincare. Try it with a dry, penetrating vegetable oil (such as sesame oil) for a non-greasy, very fine and soft feel.
8-10%
A delightful night cream for dry skin.

Note: The type of vegetable oil used has a significant influence on the texture and feel of emulsions. For example, an emulsion made with avocado oil or wheat germ oil will have a richer feel than the same emulsion made with a "dry" oil such as hazelnut oil or melon oil. In addition, adding essential oils, certain active ingredients, and certain preservatives to your preparation can change the consistency obtained. Feel free to note down all your experiences to build up a database of information that you can consult each time you formulate a new cream.

Emulsifier, allows the formation and stability of an emulsion (creamy or milky mixture of an aqueous phase and an oily phase) over time.
INCI designation
Cetearyl alcohol and polysorbate 60
Presentation
Solid waxy off-white pellets, packaged in zip-lock bags.
Type

Palm oil and sustainable development
With the constant increase in global demand for edible oils, the last twenty years have seen rapid expansion in palm oil production in tropical regions. While well-managed plantations and small oil palm farms are considered models of sustainable agriculture in terms of economic profitability and social and environmental responsibility, it is worrying to note that palm oil is not entirely produced under sustainable conditions.
The cosmetics industry consumes around 10% of global palm oil production, which is very little compared to biodiesel or food production. However, even on our scale, it is important to prioritize sustainable production methods. The group RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) was created for this purpose.
The manufacturers who are members (palm oil users) strive to engage in joint reflection and collaborate on sustainable development production and use of palm oil (implementing good operating practices for existing production, improving land use plans for new plantation areas, promoting transparency in production, etc.).
Aroma-Zone encourages this type of initiative. The Emulsifying Wax No. 1 that we offer is produced from palm oil that meets sustainable production standards. The laboratory that manufactures it is a member of the RSPO project.

Frequently Asked Questions
Good product, keeps its promises.
With this wax, I can't get as firm a texture as with the Olivem 1000, which was out of stock at the time of my order. Otherwise, it does the job, but you have to anticipate this parameter.
