Celebrated since ancient times for its beauty and fragrance, the rose is unquestionably the 'queen of flowers '. A symbol of love and beauty, with its majestic yet delicate appearance, varied colours and unique, subtle, intoxicating fragrance, this inimitably charming flower has fascinated gardeners, poets and perfumers alike for centuries.

The Damask rose, now grown mainly in Morocco, Bulgaria and Turkey, is the variety used for essential oil production, as it is the most 'productive ' of all roses.
