Find out more

Laricio pine is a variety of black pine native to the Corsican mountains, growing naturally at altitudes of between 800 and 2,000 metres. Easily identified by its very straight grey trunk, it can grow up to 50 m high and live to be 400 years old.

As far back as antiquity, particularly among the Romans, this very dense wood was used for various constructions (ship masts, houses…) because of its great strength over long spans. It is still used today in joinery and cabinet-making, as well as for making paper pulp.

Thecharacteristic odour of the resin is reminiscent of castoreum, a highly fragrant oily secretion produced by the sex glands of the beaver, which has been used extensively in perfumery but was also used asincense in certain northern regions, notably Russia. When the resin of this tree is burnt, it evokes the smell of Russian incense.

Thanks to its composition, this essential oil is rich in purifying and sanitising active ingredients that help to clear the respiratory tract, making it perfect for purifying and pleasantly perfuming the atmosphere!
