A beautiful tree with dense foliage, the grapefruit tree produces fruit in bunches, hence the origin of its English name "grapefruit". Its fruit, known as grapefruit in everyday life but botanically recognised as pomelo, belongs to the citrus fruit category. They have a yellow to pink rind, and their juicy pulp can be yellow, pink or red, and the sweetness or bitterness depends on the variety. Organic furocoumarin-free grapefruit essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of grapefruit essential oil that is initially obtained by cold pressing the fruit's zest.

This technique removes the furocoumarin family of compounds from the essential oil. These compounds unfortunately cause photosensitive reactions in the skin if it is exposed to the sun after application. To be able to enjoy the fragrance of grapefruit essential oil and its properties in your cosmetics without the risk of photosensitisation, we have created a high-quality organic grapefruit essential oil without these photosensitising molecules. This essential oil can be incorporated easily and without any risk into blends for massage oils and day creams, and is traditionally used for its lipolytic action externally to firm the skin and eliminate "orange peel" skin without any risks from exposure to the sun. It is also used to purify oily skin and tone the scalp. Recognised as an excellent antiseptic, grapefruit essential oil can also be diffused to boost energy andoptimism.
