The Mandarin tree is a small tree from the Rutaceae family, which includes citrus fruits. It has deep green, shiny, and evergreen leaves, and its branches have thorns. Its small white flowers produce a fruit, the mandarin. Originally from East Asia, specifically China, Vietnam, and Japan, its name is thought to come from the mandarins, high-ranking officials of the Middle Kingdom. This winter fruit, rich in vitamin C, strengthens the immune system, making it ideal during cold periods.
