Properties

For health, Eucalyptus Blue Mallee essential oil is recognised for the following properties:

  • Anticatarrhal, expectorant, mucolytic

  • Antiviral

  • Anti-parasitic: anti-amoebic, anti-malarial

  • Prostate decongestant

  • Anti-infectious, antibacterial

  • Anti-inflammatory

Uses

It is traditionally used to improve the following:

  • Viral or bacterial gynaecological and urinary tract infections

  • Intestinal parasites

  • ENT: nasopharyngitis, bronchitis

  • Arthritis, rheumatism

  • Malaria (as a complement to treatment)

In practice

Respiratory comfort: Mix in your oil blend. Massage or rub your blend into the chest and upper back.

Precautions

  • Not for use by pregnant or breastfeeding women, epileptics or children under 6 years of age (due to its ketone content, compounds which present neurotoxic and abortifacient risks in high doses).

  • Do not use for prolonged periods without medical advice.

  • Do not use orally.

  • Can be irritating to the skin in large doses: always use well diluted in a carrier oil, up to a maximum of 20%. As a general rule, always test your product in the crease of the elbow at least 48 hours before use.

  • Keep out of reach of children.

  • Certain natural compounds contained in this essential oil may present a risk of allergy for certain sensitive individuals when the essential oil is incorporated into a cosmetic composition (in accordance with the 7th Amendment of the European Cosmetics Directive (2003/15/EC)): limonene and, to a lesser extent, linalool.

  • Dangerous. Observe precautions for use.

  • Flammable liquid and vapours. Harmful if swallowed. May cause skin allergy. Causes skin irritation (risk associated with the product in pure form). May be fatal if swallowed or if it enters the respiratory tract (if accidentally swallowed, do not induce vomiting). Toxic to aquatic organisms, causing long-term adverse effects (in the event of massive spillage of the product into a watercourse).

Native to Australia and Tasmania, Eucalyptus trees are now found in tropical and subtropical regions, and even in warm temperate regions such as the Mediterranean basin. A member of the Myrtaceae family, Eucalyptus Blue Mallee, also known as Blue gum tree, is one of over 600 species of Eucalyptus. Some can reach heights of over 100 metres.

The leaves of this Eucalyptus are round when young, lengthening and then curving as they grow.

  • 2 ml Eucalyptus Blue Mallee essential oil
  • 1 ml Lemongrass essential oil
  • 1 ml Clove essential oil
  • Qs 10 ml Transcutol

Directions for use: Prevention: Apply 2 drops of this mixture twice a day to the chest, back and any areas prone to bites, for the duration of your trip/stay.

Aroma-Zone Note: This blend is not suitable when pregnant or breast-feeding, nor for children under 6. This preparation is used as a preventive measure and does not replace essential medical treatment in the event of illness.

  • 1 ml Satureia montana essential oil (mountain savory)
  • 2 ml Thymus satureoides essential oil (Thyme Borneol)
  • 2 ml Gaultheria procumbens essential oil (Wintergreen)
  • 0.5 ml Thymus vulgaris CT thujanol essential oil (Common Thyme with thujanol)
  • 4 ml Lavandula x burnatii CT Super essential oil (Lavandin super)
  • 0.5 ml Eucalyptus polybractea CT Cryptone essential oil (blue mallee eucalyptus)
  • added to 100 ml carrier oil

Use : 3 to 4 topical applications a day for 15 days (continue if necessary).

AND

  • 3 ml Picea mariana essential oil (Black Spruce)
  • 7 ml Pinus sylvestris essential oil (Scots Pine)

Directions for use: 8 drops as an adrenal rub (around the kidneys) twice a day

Aroma-Zone comment: Transcutol is a pharmaceutical preparation that is not widely used. It allows fats such as essential oils to penetrate the skin easily. It can easily be replaced by a dry carrier oil such as Hazelnut, Kukui or Macadamia oil

1 full teaspoon = between 3 and 4.5 ml

1 full tablespoon = between 7.5 and 10 ml


However, these spoon ratios depend on a number of factors (e.g. viscosity of the liquid, temperature, depth and size of the spoon, rheological behaviour of the liquid), and we strongly advise you to use precise measuring equipment, such as graduated test tubes, graduated pipettes, and precision scales.
